My interview was scheduled today 7/13 at 1 PM at Orlando, FL office. I arrived there a little bit before 12 noon. Despite the notice stating not to arrive any earlier than 30 minutes before the interview, I headed in at about 12.15. The parking lot was packed, and the line of people to go through security was getting longer. I later found out there was a naturalization ceremony taking place at 1 pm.

Once I made my way through security, which was completely painless, I went to the registration desk and given my ticket. I was told to sit close to the door where they would call me in as there was a lot of people already there who were there for the ceremony. At approx. 1.05 I got called in and followed the officer into his office. I was sworn in and asked to sit down. He first went through my file, asked if I had traveled outside of the country this year, which I did, and provided him with the itinerary. He asked my name, date of birth, address, my previous addresses, if I were still married to my husband, what was my SSN, if me and my husband lived at the same address, where I worked,... I provided him with marriage certificate and tax statements for the past 5 years. Then we went over a number of questions, such as if I was a terrorist, ever been arrested, participated in genocide,...

Then followed the civics questions. I don't remember all of them, but here are some:

  1. Who was the first President?
  2. Where is Statue of Liberty?
  3. Who is a governor of State of FL?
  4. What is the promise we make when we swear to Pledge of Allegiance?

I don't recall the other two.

Then he made me read a sentence, something to the extend of George Washington was the first President. And made me write President lives in the White House.

 

After that, he told me I had passed and if I wanted to come to the ceremony on Monday 7/17. I said yes. He congratulated me and I was escorted out. It took about another 30 min to wait for my notice to appear to the ceremony.

 

I can't believe the time is almost here and I get to be the United States Citizen almost 7 years to the date I first moved here on a K1 visa!

OATH CEREMONY Done yesterday! July 12th! :jest:Please update the grid for us. :D

The end was surreal. We're still reeling. Had to celebrate by eating the best burger in Atlanta at 1910 Public House in Lilburn and drinking Sprite from Mexico. We could not have made it these past 7 years without the VisaJourney family!

@nathyn, @Jamaican_Gooner, and other ATLers - I normally write detailed accounts of each experience, but this time, I think those of you who are going to the Oath ceremony may prefer to experience it firsthand. So I won't give any spoiler alerts. 

The three things I'll say:

(1) Feel free to have your family take as many photos and videos. This is one of the rare times a federal building allows this, so GO FOR IT, if you like capturing memories like us.

(2) Your guests should know that first they'll have to sit in the waiting room on Level 3, before they'll be called down to the Level 2 waiting room. I'd recommend sitting near the stairs on Level 3 (a closed door on the left side of the room right before that short hallway near the middle-front) so that guests can quickly be one of the first to get down to Level 2. And then on Level 2 waiting room, guests should sit closest to the door at the front of right of the room right next to the windows  (I think it's titled "Ceremony Room 1". That door is what all guests will enter through. If you want a "good" seat -- which I'm not sure if there really is one, since guests sit behind the oath takers. I personally stood on the side where my husband was sitting so that I could take all the video and photos that I could. I'm glad I did! We got GREAT shots.

(3) We arrived 25 minutes in advance of 8am and the parking lot was already virtually full.

Congratulations @aidan80 You are almost at the finish line!

 

My interview is in a week and I'm really excited about it. My local FO is said to "conduct Judicial Ceremonies twice per month and Administrative Ceremonies only on rare occasions" What do you guys think are my chances of getting same day oath? Keeping my fingers crossed!

@vegasbound      if your interview time at early morning and no name change involved, chances are much higher.  Office here ( Denver) says the same same at web page, so i asked around some friends, that's what i been told.

Got my oath letter today - scheduled for August 11th at the Federal Court Building in Atlanta.

If you have a name change, your ceremony will be held at the Federal Building, where it is held once a month.

Here is the schedule for the rest of the year.

Congrats and thanks for sharing the Atlanta Oath Schedule, I recently moved to Atlanta so its good to have an idea of the dates.

I had my interview today at 26 Federal Plaza in NYC and was recommended for APPROVAL :) 

 

My IO was an older Italian American guy who's name began with P - he was amazing! He instantly put me at ease. 

 

The 6 civics questions asked were: 

 

- Who wrote the Declaration of Independence? 

- Name one state that borders Mexico? 

- What is the political party of the President now? 

- What are the two major political parties in the United States? 

- Who is the Commander in Chief of the military? 

- There were 13 original colonies. Name three. 

 

After the interview, which took about 35 minutes (as we spent a long time talking about England) he asked me if I would like to wait for a couple of hours for an Oath letter, as the next available oath date was August 1st. It was at that time I brought up my upcoming travel plans and that I had actually wanted to delay the oath until after September 4th. As we were discussing this, he noticed that the system was incorrectly using my old last name and therefore I wouldn't have been able to be issued a same day Oath letter for the August 1st, even if I had agreed, as it was not within his scope to be able to edit that on the system. So it actually ended up working out and he just added a note to my file about my request for a delayed oath. After that I was on my way!

 

Now I just sit and pray that my oath is scheduled for after September 4th. If not, I'll cross that road when I get to it :) 

 

Congratulations to all those who have had interviews and Oath ceremonies. What a fantastic feeling it is! Good luck to those still waiting, you're so close now!

Naturalization Journey (Based on 5 years as a PR):

November 21st 2016 - Sent N-400 to Dallas Lockbox.

November 30th - Check Cashed.

December 1st - Email/Text Notifications.

December 8th - Hardcopy of NOA received (Priority Date 11/25).

December 9th - Biometrics Appointment Letter received.

December 19th - Biometrics Appointment.

January 4th 2017 - "In Line" for Interview.

June 9th - Online status changed to "Interview was Scheduled".

June 12th - Interview Letter received.

July 19th - Interview (NYC). Requested a "delayed Oath" for after September 4th 2017.

September 11th - Oath Letter received. Honored my request for a delayed Oath Ceremony. 

September 14th - Oath Ceremony.
