I had my interview today! It was a pretty rough experience. The immigration officer was so snappy and shouting at times for no reason at all. I think it was the person who was in there before me, cause he started to unwind bit by bit as we talked and went through the application together. By the end of the interview/test he accepted my application and told me to come 2 hours later for my oath ceremony. I went out for some fresh air and came back, attended the ceremony and now I'm a US citizen. :)

I commend your patient and thoughtful approach to deal with your IO who might have had a rough encounter before you. That is very smart. And I agree that the same day oath must have been very satisfying reward. Congratulations!

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie here and I've been a lurker in this thread since my fiancé filed his Naturalization Nov last year. He is located in Las Vegas and we're quiet sad that it's been 5 months since his in line for interview. It's a bit slow than we expected. But yeah, patience is a virtue and after his naturalization we'll start to file my fiance visa. More patience to us! Hehehe. Congratulations to all new US citizens! :)

Mego, I am also in the same status- it's more than 5 months since i gave my FP, and my status still says Fingerprint Appointment Was Scheduled. 

 

I think citizens of Middle-eastern ( Muslim majority)  and  those from Former Soviet Union blocks,  are being checked and held up.

Welcome to VJ! I agree that patience is key when you are part of the US immigration process. Realizing that also shows that you are off to a good start since your own lengthy immigration journey will begin very soon.

 

I am also from Las Vegas and I've been in line since Dec 27. If you want, I'll be happy to add your fiancé to our list so that we can track each other's progress. Just need some info on his case.

I don't think this is the case, I think it depends on your local field office. My husband is Jordanian(well, now he's American) and he was sworn in 3 weeks ago. I hope things speed up for you guys!

Hi @Investinmiami!

 

Here are the questions I was asked

- The House of Representatives has how many voting members? • four hundred thirty-five (435)

- We elect a U.S. Representative for how many years? • two (2)

- In what month do we vote for President?* • November

- Who is the “Father of Our Country”? • (George) Washington

- .Name one war fought by the United States in the 1900s. World War II

I really can't remember the 6th question though. 

The list in his hand had 10 questions and I had to answer 6 correctly in order to pass. I passed the first 6 and so he didn't have to ask any further. If I would've made any mistakes he would've continued until I reached 6 correct answers out of the 10.

 

as for writing and reading, I can't remember the exact sentences. But they were 4-5 word sentences that were very simple and used words straight out of the studying booklet. For the reading test, the officer had a paper with 3 sentences. He starts off with the first sentence and lets you read it. If you succeed he moves on to the writing test. If not, you have to attempt the second sentence. Again if you fail at the second you have a third and final attempt at the 3rd sentence. Same thing for the writing test. 3 sentences and you have to succeed at writing one of them.
