Copy of Naturalization Certificate for Passport

Hi. I was wondering if I could submit a certified true copy from USCIS (here) as evidence of US citizenship for a passport book. I called DOS hotline, I spoke with local USPS rep and all of them told me that I can submit it, they think that it's fine but they don't guarantee if it will be accepted. Since I need to make appointment to USCIS and pay copy fees I wouldn't like to attempt something that wouldn't bring any result. Which is your experience on this issue?

You must send the original. Chances are very low of them losing it or it otherwise getting lost somehow. If it is lost, as long as you get the Passport back first, you have all you need to prove citizenship. If you are concerned about mailing the certificate with your application, if you are close enough to a passport office, you could apply in person and they return your certificate to you right then and there.

Don't risk it. Send the original. They staple at its corner but otherwise they don't fold it or anything. They'll send it back in a large envelope.

That's what USPS always did when sending passport application to the passport agency, and all of naturalized immigrant have the same experienced.
