Melania Trump was paid for modeling jobs in US before gaining work visa, records show

Melania Trump was paid for 10 modeling jobs in the US worth $20,056 that occurred in the seven weeks before she had legal permission to work in the country, according to detailed accounting ledgers, contracts and related documents provided to the Associated Press.

The details of Melania Trump’s early paid modeling work in the US emerged in the final days of a bitter presidential campaign in which her husband, Donald Trump, has taken a hard line on immigration laws and those who violate them. Trump has proposed broader use of the government’s E-verify system allowing employers to check whether job applicants are authorized to work. He has noted that federal law prohibits illegally paying immigrants.

Melania Trump, who received a green card in March 2001 and became a US citizen in 2006, has always maintained that she arrived in the country legally and never violated the terms of her immigration status. During the presidential campaign, she has cited her story to defend her husband’s hard line on immigration.

The wife of the Republican presidential nominee, who sometimes worked as a model under just her first name, has said through an attorney that she first came to the US from Slovenia on 27 August 1996, on a B1/B2 visitor visa and then obtained an H-1B work visa on 18 October 1996.

The documents obtained by the AP show she was paid for 10 modeling assignments between 10 September and 15 October, during a time when her visa allowed her generally to be in the US and look for work but not perform paid work. The documents examined by the AP indicate that the modeling assignments would have been outside the bounds of her visa.

As a person who used to work in the modelling industry, this is not surprising at all. The modelling industry breaks so many laws, you honestly don't even want to know. Anyway, I don't want to blame Melania entirely because it's really the agencies who are rolling in the money, not so much the models who work there. Still, it's mildly annoying to see people get away with stuff because they have money and connections.

ALL illegal immigrants are better than legal ones, because they got here for a lot less money, probably a lot faster, and don't have to pay taxes like we do. Smart, eh?

Everybody has to pay taxes on income earned in the U.S.

I am not lying. Even money paid under the table is taxable. Whether that tax is ever collected is another question.

I did Volunteer Income Tax Assistance for several years and saw many people who I suspected were illegals and they paid taxes when they filed their tax returns.

Oh…so it is taxable? They just don't pay it and nobody can prove they got paid. They just volunteer it up? lol

And a good number of illegals have SSNs, don't pay taxes, but get tax refunds. And vote. Doesn't make it right, but it gets done, doesn't it?

SUPPOSED to pay taxes, and actually PAYING taxes are two different things though, amirite? Edited by LFEHFN

A good number of illegals collect tax refunds because they are eligible for them based on their income, just like USC's. Their is no legal/illegal designation by the IRS when it comes to taxes. Even though they are illegal, they still pay into the tax system with every paycheck when state and federal taxes are withheld.

Social Security Administration (SSA) has also taken a positive outlook on immigration in the past. "Overall, any type of immigration is a net positive to Social Security. The more people working and paying into the system, the better," Mark Hinkle, Deputy Press Officer at SSA told the AP in 2008. "It does help the system remain solvent."

There is no proof whatsoever that a good number of illegals vote.

An article from April 2015: "The IRS has acknowledged that getting a Social Security number entitles illegal immigrants to go back and claim refunds under the Earned Income Tax Credit for time they worked illegally even if they didnt file returns or pay taxes for those years."

There is, actually. You are just not willing to own up to it. I'm sure to you, it's just another conspiracy theory against the left.

I have personally talked to illegals who have voted, and even laughed about how easy it is to do so in the US.

And Obama himself said if an illegal votes, then they are a citizen. http://www.wnd.com/2016/11/obama-encourages-illegal-aliens-to-vote/

There is no proof whatsoever that a good number of illegals vote.
