Although I have not experienced this before and I do understand how it may pose as an issue. My only advice is to not get worked up over this as it is the least to worry about. Just as you explained it, explain it to the officer. The good thing about this once all of this is over you would have corrected your name without having to alter birth certificates and pay extra money for doing so. Good luck on your journey!

hi thank u for ur advise and response what exactly u mean?? is it a big deal for interview?

Just calmly and eloquently explain it to the officer in the interview and you would be fine. Also when you prepare your packages again when you arrive explain it again.. or maybe you really wouldn't have to... but explain it via a letter and attach it to your packages, and explain again if you receive another interview once you are in the US, and you'd be fine. Don't worry about that because once you are approved you can use the documents they give you to change your name.

I doubt you will have much of an issue with your children's BCs, as long as your name is listed correctly on their BC is the BIG thing. Another thing is the embassy does not use characters in name spellings, so they will have your name without the hyphen anyway.

Being you have changed your BC (wasn't necessary), you will most likely have to get your NBI with an AKA (for other names used)

Lastly, the NOA2/petition will not expire within the dates stated on the 797 NOA, the embassy will automatically extend the validity up to a year. So, no worries there.

I had to file a K-1 twice for my Brazilian husband (long story). Between the first and second filing, his passport expired and he had to renew it. The Brazilian government changed his name on the second passport--moving his middle name to the last name field, so it did not match his birth certificate. I wasn't aware of it at the time I filed the second K-1 and used his name as it appeared on his old passport. There was no issue with it at the consulate interview, nor was there a problem with his entry to the U.S. He also traveled back to Brazil after he got his green card (with his name matching the expired passport but not the new one) and had no issue upon returning. I think you'll be fine.

Good luck on your journey!!

My mom worked for PSA, she says you can get a letter of discrepancy from the Civil Registrar of the City where your Birth Certificate was issued so that you have proof that your BC is getting fixed or has a hyphen and that they acknowledge the said discrepancy. Just a proof to present to the CO and make sure to notify him or her during the interview. :)

Yes, that would be the same. You're saying that your passport has the same error right? It's hyphenated. Make sure that your passport has the same corrected last name --- as your visa name should be the same with your passport name or else you "might" encounter a problem. Just be calm and ask the CO for clarifications. :) Good luck with your interview.
