Hi all,

So after 60 days of being in the country I finally find out that my card was "undeliverable" and has been returned to USCIS. This is the following message from the tracking site (hiding my personal info):

"Card Returned Undeliverable

On October 31, 2016, the Post Office returned your new card for Receipt Number XXXXXXXX, to us as undeliverable. We mailed your card to the address you provide to us, but the Post Office could not deliver it. Please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request that we resend the card to you. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."

Now, just to confirm, I'm assuming that with this message, this means that they have the card back already and I can go ahead and reschedule delivery?

If so, am I safe to use the e-request option and have it sent to my spouse's parents' address? Our physical address in Alaska doesn't have a post box, so we have opened a PO Box (no idea why they tried to deliver to our physical address despite me providing the PO Box, but hey...), but I think I would feel safer it being delivered to a physical address (plus, we're unsure as to whether we're going to be moving to my spouse's parents' state soon anyway, and I don't want to miss the card accidentally).

So, on the e-request, so long as I fill in the "care of" field as my name, will I not have a problem with it being delivered to their house? Note that my surname wouldn't be on their mailbox, if that makes a difference?

Thanks!

Contact your local USPS first to see if it's been sent back or not. I've seen people get this message and it's not been sent back, it just hasn't been delivered yet because USPS.

It's definitely returned. Complete oversight on my part, but I didn't sign up for automatic notifications so I hadn't realised it was sent out. I signed up this morning and used the tracking number and found that the attempted delivery was about 2 weeks ago... I'm mad at myself because I just assumed that I'd get updates since they already had my email and number. I should have known by now with this whole process that there's always something...

So now it's confirmed that it's back with them, am I safe to send it to my in-laws house or will that be problematic also?

Thanks

Well the problem lies that you have to change your address to have it sent elsewhere. That change of address makes them think you are living there and if you forget to put it on forms later (if you do not move) you could have issues.

Do I have to actually change my address? When I go to reschedule using the e-request link in my first post, it only asks for a mailing address, not a physical address. Is this not just specific to this document? I've already filled in the AR-11 form with my address and mailing address, but for some reason the actual card was sent to my physical address (despite receiving confirmation of address change to the PO Box a couple of weeks prior).

Did you change your address in ELIS? Does the USPS know to deliver to your PO box?

I changed my address yes, it's my current address and my mailing address is the PO Box. This has been confirmed because they sent the confirmation to my PO Box, but I wonder if I just missed a cut off and they already had my green card addressed or something...?
