I just got a request for initial evidence :(

Don't be sad, that means there's someone looking into your case, it's a good sign! It's most likely an easy fix.

YAY!! Congratulations!!

Btw.. today we officially past number of post in the October filers' thread.... aren't we chatty.. hahaha

I was thinking that yesterday when I saw March filers (I think) with 150 pages and we have more than 50 in almost 2 month lol

Wow I received my SSN card today! We went to take care of it on Monday, it was quick it is already here! The card says "valid for work only with DHS authorization! I suppose I am gonna get a permanent one once I have the green card?

Woohoo! I can´t wait to have the one without that lol I don´t know if it make any differences but I don´t want to read more limits in my documents lol :D

I hope so too. I'm feeling more discouraged now

Nooooooo :( Think that Christmas is coming!! and then New Years! :) Just wait until you receive the letter and see what they ask for :)

IT'S BEEN SUCH A STRESSER! Thank you (F)

I want the SSN to present to the bank so I can use the w9 form instead of the W8-BEN that the bank gave me, which isn't even supposed to be applicable when you are eligible for a SSN and of course so I can apply for the DL as soon as I get my EAD. ALso want to be able to use CreditKarma so I can monitor my credit score etc etc... there's just so many little things that have been depending on it. So I'm very happy :):joy:

I can now confirm that there is no update in the USCIS web page after they send the biometrics letter!!! :) :) :)

I just got mines :') it says Notice Date: 12/17/2016. (online status didn't change)

The appointment is Jan 6th and because is Friday, hubby will have to skip work that day.

I am really happy about it, but still it doesn't mean that I can´t get an RFE later on so I will wait and see what happens.

In the letter says that Cellphones are not allowed. Has somebody walked in with a phone?

I didn't bring my phone in but there were quite a few people texting and no-one seemed to care. One girl nearly missed her number because she was on her phone and the staff just laughed it off. I'm not sure how strict your office might be though.

I did... This was a ASC only and there was no real security check at all... just walk up to a security guard at a desk.... that just took my papers and gave me a form to fill and then directed me with a que number to sit... (which I didn't need to cus no one else was before me).

That said I've seen that some have theirs at the field offices and those have security walk through... but even when I had my infopass at the field office here and went through detector and all ppl were still sitting with their cell phones...

That's really surprising considering the March fillers were the chattiest (I just made up this word, so it exists now) of 2016.

That's all great. I had trouble registering with Credit Karma as my US credit report is blank. You need to have something already for them to verify your information... By all means try, but I can't get past the 2nd step (the screen where you put your name, address and SSN).

I have a secured credit card and I'm on my husbands credit card as an authorized user... when I applied at BoA for the card I got a letter from a credit report agency... and it had already given me a score... close to 600 I think... So i'm hoping I can see something on there..

As soon as I get a job and they allow it I'll roll over my car payments from the dealership to BoA and use it to build my credit. It's currently on my husbands mom's name at the dealership since she had the best credit. Well, that's the plan anyways :P:dance:

Oh, so if they can calculate your score, you should be fine registering.

I had an AA (by the S&P scale) rating with my bank in Brazil, but unfortunately I have to start from scratch in here. But I got approved for an unsecured card with no fee and rewards, so I'm happy.

Maybe if you have a lower interest rate now, it wouldn't be a good idea rolling over the auto loan, as the different credit types account for only 10% of the score and is the least important factor. I'm assuming since the loan now is for your MIL, since she has a better credit rating her rate is most likely lower. But then again, sometimes banks offer lower rates than dealerships overall, so you have to compare and see.

This is a good video on how the scoring system in the US works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrwdJ_1jdVk

I had my biometrics appointment today and they were very strict with phones. They made people show that theire phones were turned off.

While waiting to get the biometrics taken, a man was using his phone and he was sent to security and had to go back to the beggining of the line (a long one).

So I guess it depends on where you have your biometrics taken :)

At my particular ASC center, we were allowed to walk in with phones, but not to talk on them. Everything was scanned by security, though. They confiscated my fake ammunition keyholder decoration.

Thanks to all of your answers!

I have another question. I read the letter again and noticed that they left in blank the SSN (but filled the USCIS A#)

I wrote a SSN that I used 4 years ago when I worked here under a J1 Visa (for 3 months).

I've read that once you get a SSN, you keep the same # forever. (unless you need to change it for XYZ reasons).

Anyone else wrote the SSN in application and didn't show in the letter?

They only leave the SSN blank in the letter to protect your privacy, as identity theft is a huge issue in the US.

Yes, you keep the same number for life, you only make updates on your record as you change name/immigration/citizenship status.

The ASC doesn't need and won't request your SSN to take in the biometrics.

Thank you everyone. I know getting a RFE is not the end of the world but I was hoping I'd get the biometrics letter first. I feel better now thanks to all of you ?

I got my biometrics letter today! ?? Appointment is on January 6.

Now, I have a dilemma. I have purple hair! ? **which I will of course dye back to my original color when I start applying for jobs** Mind you it's a dark purple that looks reddish in photos.

And I'm not sure if I should dye it now before I get my photographs taken at the biometrics appointment, or if it will be fine ?

I had an attorney fill out my applications and I asked her about this, she said uscis doesn't care what color my hair is lol and that it should be fine, but I'm just not sure what to do. I bought a cheap wig anyway just to wear for the photographs. I guess my only concern is I don't want to seem silly and "unprofessional" in an official ID ? (even though my hair is lilac in my current passport photo and I've had no problems whenever I show it).

Do I leave it purple and just put it in a ponytail or do I wear the wig? ??
