I'm not waiting but just wanted to tell you that your application is not in Chicago. That's just the lockbox facility. They are all forwarded to the National Benefits Center (NBC) in Missouri. Then on to your local field office if you get an interview.  I hope you hear smth soon!

Nice to see all the approvals!  Congratulations everyone!

Quick question for LPRs:  Do you carry your greencard around with you daily?

I carry it around as well.  In the protective little paper sleeve they gave me.

By law, the card should be on your person at all times, but like Suss said, many threads on here explain why it's better to

just carry a photocopy and in the unlikely event you get caught without it there's a $100 fine, whereas he cost to replace if lost/stolen is $400-ish.

It should be in your wallet, you carry it around just like your credit card, drivers license and keys in my opinion.

That means I don't bring the greencard if I go somewhere where I don't bring my wallet, like when I walk the dog etc.

Hi Suss&Camm!

Thanks everyone. I knew you're supposed to have it with you at all times.  I also knew you could be fined if you don't.  However, I just wondered what you guys were actually doing.  My husband is constantly asking me where he put this or that so I'm afraid he'll misplace it.  Concerned about going through the drama and expense if he lost it.

Does he lose his wallet often? Then yeah it might be a problem.

I'm usually very forgetful myself and tend to put things in great places and then forget where those great places are located... But I'm good with my wallet since I know it has so many important things in it, so that's one thing I never lose or misplace, same with keys and cellphone.

The interview went great! We got approved on the spot. Even though We're same-sex couple, no discrimination or prejudicial treatment from the OI. The entire interview lasted less than 10 minutes. She was only interested in viewing our bona fide documents, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. At the end, I was thinking to myself: that's all! I'd stressed for weeks for nothing.

A couple before us were in there for 30 minutes - with a different OI. Memphis office, you will either get nice white lady or tall big angry man. Good luck everyone!

Congratulations. I don't appreciate the insinuation of it going poorly with the sad faces as ppl are here to help and you kept ppl wondering and asking and I felt as though you were fishing for attention.

In any case, enjoy your permanent residency.
