Day 197: my EAD/AP card arrived in the mail! I wasn't expecting it today because USPS tracking said it had arrived in the city and would be delivered tomorrow, but we checked and there it was! I felt like Boromir from Lord of the Rings when I was holding it in my hand because I was looking at it and thinking "it is a strange fate we should suffer so much fear and doubt over such a small thing. Such a little thing." My husband came over to me and started singing Hulk Hogan's theme song, "Real American". It's definitely not the case, but I appreciated the sentiment, haha.

Still no update on the I-485, but I'd like to think that that'll get sorted soon.

Hi there!

Thank you for sharing your experiences.

My husband is still waiting. We dont even have an interview date for NYC and its been over 6 months.

Heres a quick overview of everything:

Filed paper work NOV 2016

Fingerprints Dec 2016

Work permit received Feb 2017 ....with name error

Sent back work permit Feb 2017

Filed Advanced Parole I-131 March 2017 (after getting receipt from the second I-765)

April 2017 ...hubbys grandmother died

Filed expedite request for I-131

Waited 2 weeks, got no answer

May 9, 2017...went into infopass, got on spot approval for I-131. The agent also told us that his I-765 was approved and we would hear something soon about the I-485 interview.

Advanced Parole document received May 16th and hubby was able to go home to Jamaica

Its now June 6th and we still havent heard anything about a the I-485 OR the I-765 Replacement

Called USCIS last week and the Tier 2 was equally confusing so we filed a service request.

We scheduled another infopass for June 12th

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Call or email your congressman for your district they will inquire for you and find everything out. That's what I did, they are a big help and always check up to make sure things are going how they should ! Plus it usually speeds things up so hopefully you can get that interview letter soon or maybe you will be approved without interview which would be even better .. the fact that you haven't received your replacement EAD is crazy so definitely tell them about that so you can get it asap and tell them to ask where you're at for i-485 process too!

Symptoms: Obsessive phone checking, myUSCIS site checking. Compulsion to tell anyone within earshot about the terribly inefficient immigration process. Random snapping at spouse for their seemingly nonchalant attitude.

Diagnosis: Adjustment of Status Fatigue Syndrome

Recommended Treatment: Patience and Pinot Grigio

Vodka is also an acceptable treatment.

Just got notice on June 7  that my AOS interview is scheduled for July 14.  It took about 5 months between the time my case was ready for an interview and the interview actually being scheduled.

Update: No updates yet! My case is still at "Fingerprints received". It is stressful that it doesnt even get to "Case ready to interview" like a lot of people here did. Any reason why it is like that?

Mine never went to case ready for interview either, sometimes they don't even update it on the website & they just send you the interview letter in the mail. That's what happened to me and a few other people on VJ. Hopefully you get it soon!

I'm with you, too.  Stuck on fingerprints received since 11/16.  Biometrics done back in December.  As a prior posters have said-- pinot grigio and vodka is the remedy to this waiting.  Speaking on behalf of Team Mexico, I say tequila works well, too! :)

Thank you-- that is good info to know.  We are assigned to the San Diego Office... which is one of the slower ones in the nation.  Just my luck!  haha!

I feel you! We had our interview in NYC a few weeks ago and we thought we wouldn't get a date until next year because of how busy it is lol - but they have been processing AOS quickly this year so you will definitely hear something soon, it usually comes when you least expect it!
