Just called their customer service number to see if any movement on our case.

Was informed that ALL K1 cases are sent to local field offices. I feel like this is a lie?!

And then told San Antonio were working on cases from June 6th 2016 so it would be 5 and a half months before they get to mine.

...They were working on cases from June 6th as of February 28th. SO TWO ENTIRE MONTHS HAVE PASSED SINCE THEN. So how is this date valid/factual?

Who the f**k trains these people on the phones?

AOS cases are *supposed* to go to field offices but some get adjudicated at the NBC.

As for the processing dates, as asinine as it may seem, that is their official processing dates and the only information they can provide you.

It's not really a customer service line, just a human voice to read things from the website to you.

Ha you're completely correct. Literally just like a talking clock or one of those weird prayer lines.

Oh wow.. that's terrible 🙁

Hopefully you're in the home stretch, though at this rate you may get the gc interview before the EAD.

Deep breaths -- you're close to a most welcomed 21 month break from USCIS filings.

It definitely feels like that's the case but I really hope it isn't. The service request letter said to contact them if I haven't received an interview date in the next 90 days and the online tracker doesn't even say "ready to schedule interview" yet. I also kind of need my EAD before we do the interview because I still don't have an SSN or license, so the only joint anything we'd be able to show them is our lease.

I'm in proactive mode and trying very hard not to cross over into outward anger because I know it wouldn't solve anything, even if it would feel good to vent. My savings are running low and I feel like the job search window I had is shrinking rapidly, so I'm more than willing to get a senator involved and maybe make their lives difficult. I'll apologize "for the inconvenience" when all is said and done.

I honestly can't wait for that break.

Hi! Today i received the NOA and residence card. It says "permanent resident". I thought it would say something as "temporary resident" since my application was based on the K1 visa and we have been married for less than 1 year. Do i have to "remove condition" 90 days before it expires?

Thank you!

You're a "conditional" permanent resident bc it's marriage-based and the marriage is less than 2 years.

Yes, 90 days before the expiry date you have to file to remove the conditions, then (once approved) you'll receive a 10-year green card (unconditional) and with that you can renew or file for citizenship a year later :-)

Update to our case (check out timeline for more details) - had interview on 3/21 and received an RFE for a missing medical test that was newly required. Per Infopass appointment, our response would not be pulled from the fileroom until the "call up date" - which would have been in early June. We reached out to our Congressman on the 13th.  The aide to the Congressman emailed our local USCIS on the 18th requesting that they expedite the processing of our I-485 - we had a reason why, but it would not be considered a "valid" expedite reason per USCIS. On April 26th  (8 days after she sent the email), our case was approved. USCIS sent texts and emails to us today at 6:45am (4/28) - so there was a 2 day delay in getting notified. Now we are anxiously awaiting the "card is in production" update!

Hi Jimbob89, we had our interview yesterday. It took about 15 min. He asked my husband what my date of birth is and asked me the same question about my husband. Then asked if we brought any supporting evidence of our relationship. We told him we had joint tax returns, joint health insurance, etc and he asked if we had brought any photos. we had printed them on the large 8x10 photo paper with about 5-8 photos per paper/sheet (at walgreens). we had 13 sheets total, so like 70 photos or so. he seemed to enjoy looking at the photos and we had a brief conversation about some of the photos, e.g. some photos were of us on the beach back home in Africa so he commented on how nice the beach looked, and asked us about wildlife in the region. then he asked me the yes/no questions on the i-485 form. and then said we were approved. he took the photos and added them to our file. he didnt really take anything else. i suggest to bring as much evidence of your relationship as you can. all the best!

Good Morning!

I had my interview yesterday and it was the best experience ever! the USCIS officer was really nice, funny and talkative. We share stories and laugh together. They approved my case and today the web page was updated. Now the waiting begins for the card in the mail. Does anyone know how much time this could be?

I don't know if the time would be the same, but here in Philadelphia, I received my GC exactly a week after my interview.

Interview on april 13th. Approved the same day. Received my GC on the mail on april 20th.
