So I'm looking for jobs here in Dallas.... but atm... pharma industry here is slow... (I'm a Medicinal Chemist)... I posted my resume on a bunch of job boards... and I got a staffing agency that seems eager to want to place me.. only... it's in Pennsylvania and in New Jersey... that's pretty far from Texas.... I still said I'm interested...hubby said if I were offered a position he's willing to move... which makes me happy, but at the same time.. if I did get a position out of state...  *sigh* move again! lol but you do what you have to... they are really good positions... I guess I should be really happy that I'm even considered...  We'll see if I get an interview...

Is it costly to move to another state?? like if you're moving furniture and car etc...? what are some things I would need to consider/get done? Back in Sweden, you move, you just need to change your address... here it seems way complicated  Any tips appreciated.... anyone else moved or will be moving to another state?

We are about to move from Nashville to Corpus Christi. Moving cost for just the shipping is about $2000 for a one bedroom. Ever looked in the research triangle in North Carolina?

Off topic question: I know people move in the name of love. But how come people in Sweden want to move to the US? It is the fact that Sweden is the best country to live in, with the world-class education, healthcare, and work benefits, pays.

Well a big reason is because my husband doesn't have a University degree... and for someone to come to Sweden without a Uni degree it takes a long long time to get a job... non degree jobs, you are normally required to be able to speak Swedish as well.... My brothers gf moved to Sweden for example - Uni degree from Spain in urban planning and a very motivated and smart girl!... it's almost 2 years and she has yet to get a job... SHe's been keeping busy with Swedish classes and validations etc etc.. but no luck so far, casue there is always someone more qualified or with the same credentials, but speaks Swedish, applying for her jobs.. Some fields are more likely to be easier... such as IT... but in general it is hard. They say that Sweden has the world's highest educated unemployed ppl.

So.. I have two international degrees, and already speak English... I'm more likely to get a job over here faster... our plan is for  hubby to go to school once I have a job... and then we will see. An option for the future is for us to apply for jobs in Sweden from over here together... and move if we both get jobs... I know that I will find a job back there with ease, so in that case we would be looking for him..and we would be together...but in all honesty, we're leaving that door open... :) We will see what the future brings!

Consider costs for visits to find housing (airfare/rental car/hotel/food).  You could try and negotiate a relocation package.  Many companies will pay for good talent.  Ask the staffing agency if they offer relo.

It also depends on where you live now.  There are expenses associated with selling a home or breaking a lease.

Don't forget the weather difference too.  Much colder in the NE than in Texas.

Check out the cost of living calculators found on Google to compare typical monthly expenses (food/rent/etc.).  I imagine Texas is much cheaper than NJ.

That is great. Thank you for explaining it to me. I am thou offered jobs Tokyo n Hongkong so I am questioning my journey here in America. You know with all the immigrant discrimination, unexpected change of law, racist, I am not sure if I want to live here long term.

I have had the same feelings... but I tend to think this is a temporary set back... Most progress in the history of the US, has come from the ppl fighting back against extreme injustices. It is not a straight path, upwards and forwards towards a more civilized society... but history shows, that very big steps forward have been taken after such periods.. I will stick it out and hope for the best. There are so many ppl fighting also for what is right and just! :) That said, I recognize your thoughts and would understand anyone who doesn't wish to stay.

Hello there!

Today in the mail I got two I-797 Notices of Action - approvals.

One for EAD+AP stating it's a combo card and explaining about both benefits - which surprised me, usually the explanations weren't that good.

Another one for AP only.

This gives me some relief as I now know that they got my address change properly for EAD and AP too even though they'd only confirmed in writing the change for the I-485.

The wait for the combo card continues...

Need advice! Do I need a joint sponsor?

My husband was a student all the way until April of 2016 when he started his new job.

2015 tax returns weren't enough but we filed in 2015 with pay stubs for the past 8 months and letter from employer.

Rfe in January about wrong household size. I fixed the issue.

Now another RFE saying his income isn't high enough (when in fact it is by several thousands ). So 2015 return didn't not have enough but 2016 definitely does. I don't know what to do.

Well for the 2016 return is says 25,789 adjusted gross income. So it's definitely enough. But not for 2015. His annual income is 26,767 which is what it says on his employment letter and what I wrote down on the annual income field.
