Silent reader since forever. NOA Nov 21, EAD just got approved ?

On February 27, 2017, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number MSCXXXXXXXXXX, and will mail it to the address you gave us.

We are getting ready for our scheduled interview in 3 weeks, very excited. A few questions to the community.

1) We expected an EAD within 90 days, our NOA was in early December and thus today marks 75 days. Is the EAD usually within less and 90 days, very close to 90 days, or what can we do if it is greater than 90 days?

2) Our lawyer offered to come with us to the interview for $300,  seems expensive. Has anyone considered bringing a lawyer or used one at the interview?

Thanks

As previous poster stated you can file your first service request as approaching 90 days and then if there is still no result, you may file again on day 91. I chose this way and on day 91 my card was approved.

You can send a service request at 75 days, but they'll just tell you that your application is still within the 90 day period and you should wait.

There was a lot of backlog and most applications are processed in slightly more than 90 days (more like 95-105). At 90 days you can raise another service request. But no one is really convinced it actually does something. By the time they come back to you you'll most likely would have been approved anyway.

Lawyers have an ethical duty to not willfully represent you if they believe your marriage is fraudulent. From my lawyer's experience, immigrations officers are much nicer and easy going when a lawyer is present, as it is further proof that your marriage is bona fide and not a sham just to get a green card.

My lawyer fee included his presence at the interview.

I didnt get that answer. They actually said that my case was in process and I should hear something soon. If you do it on day 75 you may her that that is why I recommend day 76 and 91 as it will be after 75 days.

Yes, the services requests may or may not speed up processing.  It could just be coincidence.  Don't really know for sure, but I guess it doesn't hurt.  It seems that this OP is closer to day 85 than 75.  I've noticed EAD/AP taking longer than 90 days more often lately too.

When is your interview? Mine is March 10, getting nervous now.

Like someone else mentioned, my attorney also told us that interviewing officers are more laid back when there is a lawyer present. I'd feel better if our attorney accompanied us but she will likely charge us for that as well and we're honestly out of funds lol. Unless she offers to go with us for free we're just going to go alone.

For those applying for jobs... How common is it for employers to ask you for your degree diplomas?

I left mine back home and I don't know if when I add my education background they will ask me to see them... Thoughts?

I think you should atleast have them sent over.... even if you have a lot of working experience..I would assume a double check of academic credentials.. :)

It's going to feel weird to not have any USCIS filings for 2 whole years.

We filed the K1 petition late March last year (after getting engaged in December 2015) and I feel like since then my entire life has revolved around obsessively visiting the USCIS (and Visa Journey) websites.

Soon we'll all have 2 years (less 90 days) before filing for ROC... it'll be a normal life with our spouses.

For all the hassel and headaches and exorbitant waiting, we've all made it pretty far.  I'm pumped to get a job here and put down roots.

You guys are the best - definitely saved my butt (and legal fees) with the experiential expertise :-)
