Hello November filers! So our 485 status just changed to "New Card Is Being Produced"  Our local office is Washington DC but we had no interview We are adjusting from K1 visa.

What exams did you take? Isn't just the computer test at first or did you do the driving test as well?

Yes I did both the same day. They didn't have any times for the driving there for over a month and half(!) the guy saw my shock and said he could ask his supervisor if I could do it today....duuh yes!! So I did both :) 
Otherwise I would have had to go around to different dmv's or try to find one with walk-in.

 

edit: I think he realized how hard it is to be without license when you just moved here from another country..  he was very nice :)

Lucky indeed that what I was told too. After the computer test, I m supposed to look for a spot online and it might take few months before I can schedule it. 

 

Indeed, being able to drive is important here

look around for offices that do walk-ins... would be worth a bit of a travel to get it done!

Would happy to switch cities :D  I think Chicago has a lot of opportunities. It's okay if they required EAD for the DL, you will eventually get it

So I have work Monday and my Ead went into production yesterday hence I won't get it until about end of next week... My congressman asked the USCIS if I can work while my status says card in production, they said yes I can work and it's down to my employer if they allow me to start without the physical card but as it regards to the USCIS I'm approved and can start... Just to inform if anyone else may be in this same boat and was unsure.
