Hey, guys. So I called about two weeks back to find out my NVC case #, which I did successfully. Since then, I've been waiting for my fiancee to receive the necessary documents in the mail. She lives in the Philippines. Currently, I am there with her now.

Are there any forms I can fill out in the meantime or anything I can do? Like the DS-160, for instance. Or should I wait until she gets the documents in the mail.

I've been trying to call the Manila office to verify whether they mailed out her papers yet, but haven't been able to speak to a living person. I'm only directed to voicemails, one of which suggests filling out the DS-160.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Don't worry about her receiving anything in the mail from the embassy. She probably never will. It is totally normal.

Because you have the NVC number, you can go a head and set up the medical and do the DS-160 and set interview appointment.

Since you are already there, you can download and print off the I-134 form and fill it out and sign it yourself(should be original "Wet" signature". As well as perhaps sign an "updated" letter of intent.

Then you can just e-mail her all the other financial documentation needed for the interview.

M partner did the medical and all they wanted was the NVC letter(copy of the original basically that should be mailed to the petitioner from the NVC).

Try to complete the medical one week in advance of the interview(just incase something happens). Also do not forget to do CFO. You can do CFO anytime before or after the interview. If before the interview, just go back after and get the final "stamp" or certificate from CFO for the immigrations.

Thanks for that - I am at this stage just about and have been fishing for the next steps for the 50th time. The only thing I was not aware of was an "updated" letter of intent. I havent seen that before. How does that help? Me - being the smarta55 that I am - will do that - I just like to know what they are looking for in it. Your commitment grew?

I just added it in. It is "advised" I-134 and such like letter from employer, even again updated letter of intent, be dated no more than 30 days from interview. That was it is fairly up to date and just shows you're still committed.

My partner will also submit/show a new one of his own at the interview if they ask.

As everyone says, be "overly prepared" because maybe they won't ask to see it, maybe they will.

Is the person who fills out the DS160 supposed to be the person applying for the visa, or the petitioner? Thanks for the useful information, by the way.

Once you have your MNL# it is ROCK n ROLL time!!!! No reason to wait for a letter or packet from the embassy, everything is online!!

Start here: http://visaconnection-philippines.com/index.php/2-visa-process/3-usem-k-1-visa

Setup your account, pay your visa fee, schedule your interview, complete your DS-160, complete your medical, attend the interview, complete CFO. (additional links on on the link I provided for everything)

Follow the embassy instructions letter. (link to that in the link above)

Don't worry about her receiving anything in the mail from the embassy. She probably never will. It is totally normal.

Thank you so much for the information, everyone.

Basically, we started the DS-160, but she hasn't acquired her passport yet. Hopefully, she'll have it in about two weeks so we can complete it.

Regarding the DS-160, is that the last step to scheduling the medical and the interview? Or do we have anything else to do?

I do have the MNL number.

DS-160 isn't required to schedule the interview. But you will need copies of the confirmation page the 2nd day of the medical (info on the SLEC website). You will also need a copy of the confirmation page for the interview, (but not for scheduling)

You need the passport for sure before you get get ROCKING n ROLLING
