Why is this a surprise to anyone when it is a well known and strongly defended fact that any moron in this country can own a handgun. It's like begging for trouble. And then complain about it.

This moron doesn't own any handguns, but I own several shotguns and rifles. Legally. :)

Here is an example of the ####### that goes down in my neighborhood and city...frequently. This is the third safehouse that has been busted within a 4 mile radius of my house in recent memory. And that is just the incidents I know of (there are likely more). I know this particular neighborhood well. This is what happens when you live in a retarded city like Houston with ridiculous sanctuary policies for illegal aliens and in a country with a do nothing Congress that cares little for it's constituents. It is a huge magnet for this type of #######.

http://www.click2houston.com/newsarchive/7992549/detail.html

I have no plans to get rid of my guns. After this I'll probably go out and buy more ammo. Legally.

And I'll continue to b*tch about illegal aliens...my favorite pet peeve. I have zero sympathy for these illegals and minus zero for their smugglers. These "poor" people pay huge sums to these smugglers. I hope the Feds confiscate all their smuggling fees and send the whole bunch back where they came from. With the smugglers getting a very long vacation from their gangsta lifestyle as guests of our state's penal system.

Adios. That's my soapbox soliloque for the evening. ;)

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

You misread my statement. Is it too much to ask to keep handguns and rifles and high caliber equipment that allows to precisely target a mile and half away out of the hands of the mentally unstable and otherwise insane? That's not happening in this here place nor is there any kind of licensing requirement to buy and own a gun and I think that is why these shootings keep happening. Folks are unstable, have a gun at their disposal and whenever one of them blows a fuse, people get hurt and/or die. And then the public is outraged. It's a home made problem. With an easy fix. It's just that there's a powerful and well-funded lobby that apparently loves (at the very least rather tolerates) seeing innocent people get hurt. ;)

What is the easy fix? Does it cover illegal sales of guns on the streets also?

Actually ET, I somewhat agree with you. Of course my post was a bit sarcastic. I bought all of my rifles and shotguns more than 15-20 years ago. At that time the law was cash and carry. After filling out some forms using a driver's license as ID, you paid for your gun and left with it. It probably took less than 20 minutes.

I know for at least handguns there is a mandatory background check by law now and the purchaser has a waiting period. I don't know if this proceedure applies to rifles and shotguns presently. I really do believe that ALL gun owners should be required to go through at least some sort of training and have that training on file before being able to purchase any gun.

My post about the illegal alien safe house only proves (at least to me) that eliminating private ownership of guns from honest citizens is no solution. If millions of illegal aliens can get smuggled across our borders...it only stands to reason that weapons, narcotics, terrorists, etc. are coming across too. Foreign nationals are prohibited from possessing guns in the USA, but as you can read in my newsclip...these ILLEGAL aliens aren't really concerned with doing ANYTHING legal. Enough said!

It just disgusts me that the retards running this country are more concerned that their Big Business cronies have an abundance of cheap illegal labor instead of securing our borders. They are more concerned with passing "comprehensive" immigration reform legislation that is heavy on amnesty for the illegal aliens and full of loopholes to continue the invasion of cheap labor. They are more concerned with the borders and violence in Iraq that the borders and violence right here in America. Outrageous!

As long as this is what runs our country...I really don't see any meaningfull solutions to problems facing our country. Including stopping the violence.

That's my soapbox soliloquy for this morning.

Don't you think that most of these guns that are illegally traded on the street were originally acquired legally? Or do you believe that those just macically appeared somehow?

Most of them probably were, but my question is what is the easy fix to our problem? Are the illegal guns just going to magically disappear somehow?

Well, maybe we ought to start by stopping to issue guns to any idiot that wants one. Or do you really think that adding more guns each and every day to more and more irresponsible people will turn things around for the better somehow? At the end of the day, for every illegal gun seized, there are two new ones sold - legally...

No, I don't think that adding more guns each and every day to more and more irresponsible people will turn things around. I'm simply asking, what is the easy fix to the current problem? You said there was an easy fix. What is it?
