.... Not sure what's making you seem so angry on your post! We are all here to vent our frustrations and we're irrational sometimes... isn't that what love is all about? :)

I'm not angry at all. Really. If you had seen me mad before you'd realize this isn't it.

I am, however, concerned that too much of the function of this forum is timeline tracking, rather than REALLY helping each other have a successful DIY process.

Thus my comments.

And right they were rebeccajo. Perhaps we should start posting timelines from the past including from during IMBRA to give a point of perspective. And while "it's really not out of the realm of possibility for people to take action to try to get things done faster", it makes zero sense to do anything after such a short time. Just looking at the information posted on the service center website clarifies at exactly what point a petitioner is outside of normal processing time and when they should take further action.

You may be "entitled to go through this process (and entitled to this service) and be with our loved ones" but that does NOT in any way mean you are entitled to "demand for them to look up my file".

Patience people.

If you look at the original post, it was a "what if", and said nothing about doing anything after a short period of time... I agree, it's silly to do something when we all really know it takes awhile. My point was if you really believe in taking a stance and wanting to make a change down the road, then do what you gotta do. Maybe I'm just a romantic, but it was more of an encouragement statement. It's not a "open my file, I've been waiting over one month" kind of thing. If you haven't heard anything after 4 or 5 months and you want to call or talk to someone, go for it rather than assume that it'd get you no where. I would never go to one of those service workers and demand anything from them because I'm sure they have no control over it. You've got to be realistic about the whole process, but it can't hurt to be assertive and positive once in awhile.

For example, I am not happy at all with the fact that it takes 6 months from NOA2 to get an interview in Montreal for my fiance to get here. I'm patient and understanding - I'm not going to knock down their doors, but I'm going to write my congresswoman and express my concerns. While she can't single handedly do something for me, I'm taking some sort of action rather than assume people know that there's a problem... I'm not suggesting that everyone get up and start a riot, I just like to support when people want to go the extra step especially if it's for their loved ones.

If you're this unhappy now, I would hate to see you wait months...maybe over a year or more....for your AOS to be processed once you get to that point. This is all a part of being with your beloved...it's a waiting game. I'm not happy at all that my husband has been in FBI name check for over 8 months. Some have been in name check a heck of a lot longer. This journey isn't over once she gets here...and it won't be completely done until way on down the line.

You're right though, being assertive and proactive is a good thing, when it's time to be so. The USCIS and the DHS hold our futures in their grubby little hands. Not much we can do, but we can be as assertive as possible when things go beyond reasonable times.

Believe me, I know the visa journey isn't done when the foreign spouse/fiance arrives. And while I realize we could well have a good wait in front of us for AOS, at least Chas and I will be together during that time.

When you've been apart as long as we have, the wait to be together (as the wheels of the immigration system turn)just seems that much longer. I'm sure some of you AOSers remember how that felt. I think that is what piosenka is describing.

And I DO find it out of order that even after 4 or 5 months languishing at CSC, your only 'recourse' is to call some cust service number that basically has the same information that you have on the online updates. By that point, it'd be nice to be able to talk to someone who can physically put their hands on your case just to assure you it isn't under the coffee pot.

I couldn't agree with you more, kitkat. I wish some of these timelines would include the IMBRA fiasco when our petitions sat in a box for a few months until USCIS finally figured out what to do with them and the huge backlog they created.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.
