Hey,

Lets say that CSC takes past 2.9 months to review my file, lets say it's been 4 months and 0 touches. Can I just go there in person and demand for them to look up my file? CSC is less than an hour drive from me....that is why I ask. While i'm down there, i'll be willing to speak on some VJ'ers behalf as well. Especially that one VJ'er that has a Nov 1, NOA1, and 0 touches.

I'm not sure but I sincerely doubt it.

I had zero touches until my NOA2 (4 months after NOA1). What was most frustrating was not knowing anything. All the customer service number would tell you was what you already know - that its pending, and you're still within 'processing times'.

I'm not even sure what would happen if you went there. Wonder if you could even get in the building at all.

well i think you are getting way ahead of yourself, you just filed. Remember these people are holding your FUTURE in your hands and would hate to see your petition accidentally get lost. Best of luck to you both and im sure your journey will move right along!

I know you are sincere, but you are sincerely wrong. Im sure they won't let you in the building. If this was true, imagine it being stormed by thousands of angry people.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

You should call your congressman/woman's office and ask for help. Explain to them that you're aware of their posted times, but you're also aware (per that 2.9 month doc!) that the real average is less, and, given the speed with which other states' residents are serviced at VT, you are concerend and thought your congressman/woman should know that his/her constituents aren't being treated fairly in the process.

Be calm and respectful - yet assertive and educated - in your dealing with the office. Look him/her up on www.house.gov (or either of the Senators on www.senate.gov) and contact the District Office. Ask to speak to whoever handles immigration case work.

It may get you nowhere, or it may get you somewhere. But showing up at the CSC probably will just be a waste of gas. (though I really dislike seeing people post on VJ about being worried that asking questions might get your application "lost" or that anyone working for USCIS would be vindictive. Government employees are stressed out people, just like us. Don't either assume they're mean bastards or assume that you don't have the right to inquire through the appropriate means.)

Thanks for the advice. I know its not the best thing to do. I'm still under the 2.9 month period, but knowing my luck, i'm looking at 4 months easy.

I think its too early for the OP to consider calling their congressman. In two or three months time with no NOA2? Maybe!

2 months after NOA1 is not long enough to contact a senator, not by a long shot.

Patience will get you far in this process.

And, no, you cannot go in person to CSC.

2.9 months? Where does this figure come from?

All petitioners (no matter what Service Center) will be well served to remember that ANY timeline figure you read, either here or at USCIS.gov, are AVERAGES. They are not GUARANTEES. An AVERAGE consists of people at the lower end of the scale as well as the higher end.

Your case is one of THOUSANDS being processed. THOUSANDS. The files are kept in boxes in storerooms with date-order shelves. There can be many, many boxes for one day. The petitions are not categorized - when an adjudicator extracts a box, it will contain employment based petitions, family based petitions, asylee petitions - all types. The adjudicator will work through the box before they move onto another. So goes the cycle.

Your petition will get processed. Odds of it getting lost are slim - very very slim - as all files are tracked by barcodes. Different adjudicators work at different speeds - some are faster than others but all have quotas upon which their job performance is evaluated. Likewise they cannot arbitrarily deny a petition.

This is immigration. It is not McDonalds. You are petitioning the US government for permission to allow a citizen of another nation to live here. It's not something you are entitled to or can DEMAND by driving somewhere and planting yourself in the lobby.

It takes time. But it takes less time than it did five years ago, and it takes one HELL of a lot less time than it did 10 years ago.

Patience is a virtue you cannot have enough of in this process.

I meant two or three months from now - he's waited 2 months already I believe.

The 2.9 month figure comes from the immigration timelines section of this website. This is the average that we are currently seeing people receive NOA2, for a specific example, look at my timeline (NSC to CSC). Of course this depends on people who accurately fill out their timeline :P This surely isn't definite, but a good figure to refer to once you are getting close. I don't think anyone takes this figure as a guarantee. But I, for example, saw that the 2.9 month period for NOA2s was coming close recently, so I expected it the next week, and the next week it came :P

Also, chill a little bit, it's really not out of the realm of possibility for people to take action to try to get things done faster... sure, it probably won't work, but if you look at the history of the US, people rally, plant themselves in the lobby, etc, etc and stuff happens! In this process we know that we have to wait, wait, wait... I don't think any of us think the service centers are McDonalds :P We certainly are entitled to go through this process (and entitled to this service) and be with our loved ones. Not sure what's making you seem so angry on your post! We are all here to vent our frustrations and we're irrational sometimes... isn't that what love is all about? :)

I have to say I am in complete agreement with rebeccajo. I too am waiting, but I understand it a process. You can see the timelines here on VJ for the CSC based on other cases. They are JUST starting to give NOA2 for the January 2007 filers now. Given you filed at the end of January, you can roughly expect to hear something in late April 2007. Touch frequency doesn't mean anything...some have 0 touches and they get an NOA2 and others have 5. Nobody knows exactly what a touch really means other than SOMETHING was updated with your case internally.

As everyone has said, the CSC K-1 processing dates here are fluid, as one case can vary from another. If you don't hear anything by mid-May, then I'd start to begin calling and asking for more info...until then RELAX! You are 2 months ahead of me so quit complaining! =)

I'm not angry at all. Really. If you had seen me mad before you'd realize this isn't it.

I am, however, concerned that too much of the function of this forum is timeline tracking, rather than REALLY helping each other have a successful DIY process.

Thus my comments.
