Where is your wife now?

If she is overseas then you just need the I-130 form and the relevant supporting documents (no I-485). Once that has been approved (takes about 6 months) the case will be sent to the NVC for a few months where more fees and documents are required. Then it will be sent to the embassy in your wife's country and she will attend a medical examination and an interview. All being well, she will be issued a visa and upon arrival into the US she will be a permanent resident and will be able to work immediately. No work permit required with CR-1 visas.

If your wife is already in the US on another visa (student visa, for example) then you need the I-485 as well as the I-130 but it sounds like your wife is overseas as you said she has never lived with you. So it's just the I-130 and the G-325A for now.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath
