Hi guys !!

My wife (USC) and I are working for the same company, i statrted the job as seasonal employee since march 2016, she added me to her inssurance even before i started the job, Now that i got promoted to full time regular (with benefits) we got an eamil from HR saying that the company ploicy does not allow joint inssurance for spouses, and it needs to be split, will have to ROC in November 2107...iam worried as that will be one evidence i will be loosing..we have an appointment on friday with HR. Anyone has gone through the same situation?? Any advice or experience will be highly appreciated .

Thank you!!$

It is fine for couple to have their own individual health insurance.

You could still have other joint stuff , or listing each other as beneficiary on life insurance ,accident insurance, emergency contacts.

Done with K1, AOS and ROC

Save the email about having to split your insurance. Submit statements showing that your address is the same, but explain that you are required by your employer to maintain separate policies. Add the letter from your employer.

It is pretty normal these days that couples get their health insurance individually through their respective employers, due to the increase of health insurance costs. Or some companies are doing away with spousal coverage.

We have done our math, it is cheaper this way.

I would not worry too much about the joint/split health insurance.

Focus on other stuff -> joint bank accounts, mortgage, loans, joint expenses... etc

save the email from hr and include it in your packet. along with proof of being on the same insurance prior and then separate at the same company after and you should have no issues.

Thank you for the info, appreciated.
