I'm currently assembling my AOS package. Can I go back to Canada for Christmas?

First, forgive me if my question has been asked a million times. I'm sure it's a common one, but for some reason I couldn't find exactly what I'm looking for.

I entered the US by car on october 8th and we just got married on Halloween day. So today I started filling the forms needed for the AOS.

I thought that in order to be able to visit my family I would simply have to send the I-131 Application for travel document along with all the other forms but it seems maybe I was a bit naive...?

Is my reason for travel legit enough? We were thinking of driving from Boston to Montreal on Christmas morning like we usually do.

Any tips would be appreciated!

You don't even have to put a reason for applying I-131 AP.

Not sure if you will get I-131 in time for Christmas though.

Normally, it takes about 90 days to receive EAD/AP.

No. you will not have you AP before christmas.

Even if it were to be approved before it takes about 2-3 weeks before you have it.

Right now they are approving in the ending of August/beginning of september EAD/AP.

Your reason for travel doesn't matter, but you won't be able to receive AP in time for Christmas this year, unfortunately.

It will be your first Christmas with your husband. Cherish it together. I wasn't able to spend my first married Christmas with my hubs. Or our first two anniversaries. Remember you have a new family now that comes first.
