Have someone filled the N-400 for the citizenship before receive the approval of the I-751???

It have take forever and they are just working on files from August???  (we have done everything by ourselves - no lawyers - and I don't want to delay that application too)

I did.

If your ultimate goal is citizenship (mine is), then you should go ahead and file, so to ultimately save some time, especially if you belong to a slow field office.

F-1 Visa: Academic years 2007/2010.

K-1 Visa: I-129F sent Aug 2013; Approved Jan 2014.

Green Card: AOS sent Feb 2014; Approved Jan 2015.

Removal of Conditions: I-751 sent Nov 2016; Approved Apr 2018.

US Citizenship: Application sent Nov 2017; Fingerprints Nov 2017; Civics/English exam March 2018; Oath May 2018.

Similar to Nikkosan I also plan on filing my N-400 as soon as my window opens which is 1/13. I think it's just best to get this process going as soon as we can!

I'm personally waiting a bit.  I think I'm wanting a break from the paperwork/filing fees haha!

I definitely plan on filing for citizenship long before my 10 year expires though.

Hi everyone,

My I 751 extension expires Jan 31st and I'm trying to get an appointment at the Newark/New York USCIS office for a few weeks now but have failed. I did manage an appointment with them in early Nov but the officer refused to stamp I-551 saying it can only be stamped 30 days prior to expiation. Now I'm so close to expiration date and can't manage an appointment. Two questions:

-Anyone know how to get an appointment/any 'tricks' to use? I have been trying for a few weeks and all times of the day/night.

-If I can't get I-551 stamped by Jan 31st then what? If i don't plan on leaving the country can I have it stamped after the date as well?

Thank you so much.

Have you tried at midnight?  I tried for a couple weeks to get an appointment here in Salt Lake without any luck and was getting worried because I am going home to Canada end of Feb and my extension expires Feb 9.  I managed to get an appointment finally yesterday morning by checking as soon as I got up for work (about 6:45am).  I have heard midnight is when new appointments open up so either staying up late or waking up early is the best chance, but you may need to try multiple days in a row.

11/09/2016 - i-751 sent

11/14/2016 - NOA1

12/08/2016 - Biometrics

06/04/2018 - i-751 approved

I sent in my N-400 application the very first day I became eligible to file. And I am scheduled for Interview on Feb 14, 2018 and my ROC is still pending until now.

My online status as well says the estimated completion time is on December 2018 however It updated on Jan 10th that they scheduled me for an interview. It never went online after the biometric which I had on Nov 16 2017. Today, I got an appointment letter for Feb 14. I hope you'll get it soon...Best of Luck.

Thank  you for your answer! Good luck with your applications!!

And yes, my goal is citizenship, I didn't apply on Nov because we took in December 2 weeks vacations out of the country; I have my application ready online, but I wanted to know if someone had done it without the ROC approved, before I pay and send it.

But now I don't know if I should wait, something happened last week and even I not nervous because my marriage is real we have 2 kids, we bought a house two years ago and everything is ok... BUT last Wednesday I stayed home because my baby was sick, and two immigration agents showed to my house! It was 9am and I was on pajamas so I told them to give me a few minutes to change and I called my husband and he was home in less than 5 minutes. Long story short, they stayed outside with him (my husband told that our baby had the flu and they refused to get inside the house, they didn't want to get sick... haha) so they explain him were doing home visits/inspections to see if we were still together and to see if our marriage was real. The agent told him that its normal, that they have done that kind of visits always, but now in the last year the number of visits required has increased, the said that we were the 12th case that they visit that week..... after a few minutes and some questions to see if what we said in the application was true they told him that they would recommend to approve the GC without a interview, and they left. Has you or someone hear of someone with the same situation???? I have been checking my status on the web and still is the same that they receive my application and that they are working on it...

Should I be worried?? Should I send the naturalization application or wait??

Thank you!!!!

Good luck in your application!!!

Thank you. Your story sounds scary but I'm glad it all went okay. Hoping you get your status approved really soon given what the officers said. I'd say go ahead and submit your application, you don't have anything to worry about and it just feels like the sooner the better especially with the whole immigration situation under the current government!
