1. You are still a legal resident with an application pending so I think you can get a green card stamp in your passport

2. At the same time you can apply for citizenship since you've been in the country legally for three years and you are married to a USC. I've heard a number of stories from people doing this and there were times that citizenship gets processed faster and removal of conditions is cancelled or something like that.

Agree with Snorlux. 

 

I'm following May, June, July, August, September, and October threads. May and June have PLENTY of people doing just that. 

 

It also gives you a feel for what can be expected. 

 

Either way, I also have zero issues leaving and re-entering the country.

I had a prolonged period where I hadn't started the immigration process. It was full of many nightmares that I was stuck outside the US without my family, so traveling on the extension, or a stamp, fills me with anxiety.

 

I am also undecided about applying for US citizenship, so it hasn't been something I have considered. If only they moved as quickly with processing as they do with processing our checks

How likely is it that we'll get called in for an interview for the removal of conditions?

 

My wife (applicant) and I (USC) were planning to spend a few months traveling starting this September. We could fly back early for an interview if we absolutely had to, but obviously that's a very undesirable option.

I wouldn't worry too much about it

I am told that before the extension expires by 1-3 months, we need to call to ask for an extension of the extension.

Nothing is beyond reproach. While most people I interacted with never got anything till the approval, some did get RFE and interviews. Best keep an eye out.

If your country allows dual citizenship, then I would say definitely do it. 

If you have to give up your citizenship to get another one, then only you can decide.

Hey, everyone,

We got married on 7/6/13 and received the conditional green card on 1/2/15. My I-751 files were received by the CSC on 11/25/16. Can I apply for the citizenship because I have been married for more than 3 years now or is calculated since the day I got my green card? I first thought it has to be 3 years since the day I got the green card but a during a recent conversation with a USCIS customer care agent I was told that it is from the day that I got married. Can someone please clarify this for me. Thanks

@smoke416 It should be 90 days before you reach 3 years of being permanent resident given your're still married to your US citizen spouse not from being married. Clearly that USCIS customer agent needs some training. LOL!

@Lemon23 Thanks for the reply. That's what I thought. Yeah, she could use some training. But at the rate I-751 is been processed so far we might be able to apply for citizenship before it is approved ( if it's an option)

@smoke416 We actually just received an email about this from our lawyer today.  We received the conditional approval on 12/19/14 and were notified that we can start the naturalization application as of 09/19/17 (so 3 years minus 90 days before the original GC approval).  You should be ready to start your paperwork in October!

I suggest you start reading the June, July, and August filers' threads. We most likely won't hear anything until November (unless they speed up, which I find hard to believe, although today someone today mentioned it might happen). The fact of the matter is, ROC now takes around 12 months to be completed.
