I like the percentages and everything ;) I think I'm gonna create a website where we can all input our dates and get it to show percentages, average times between each action (send date, noa1 date, biometris and approval dates) etc.. bored at work so this will be fun :)

I know visajourney kind of does that but I will create a page for november filers only this board only so that we can keep track and so that nobody has to keep on doing calculations all the time.. lets automate this ;)

Oh yes please :) and 'wow' to 'bored at work', is it because it's almost Christmas and everyone is doing less? :D :D I had the full week off for Thanksgiving and am now paying for it in my work inbox  Cant wait for your chart! Thank you!

I filed at the California service center.

I sent my package 11/21/16 and it was received on 11/22/16.

My check was cashed 11/25/16.

I received my NOA 11/28/16. ( the paper says it was received 11/22/16)

Interesting. We sent our package on 11/21 and it was received on 11/22, but we haven't received NOA yet.

This morning, however, our bank showed that the check was cashed. Probably NOA towards the end of the week.

I wonder if the packages are separated by countries or states and handled differently.

Did an early walk-in today, and "got told" in the process by the lady at the reception desk (ooops!). She mentioned that biometrics data simply stay stuck in the system until the real processing date, and that there is also a danger that the information gets released and lost before it. In my specific case she said it's not too far away, so there won't be a problem.

I have a feeling she was just trying to discourage anyone from doing an early walk-in, and I even told her it would have been fine if she didn't want to process me, but she did accept me. Place was empty, I was in and out in less than 10-15 minutes.

Did they take your green card when you did your biometrics? My husband had an INFOPASS appointment this morning to get his passport stamped since he's traveling abroad in January and his green card expires next month. He was able to get his Biometrics done today as well (a week before the scheduled appointment), but said they took his green card. Anyone know if that is normal?

No, they did not (although they most definitely looked at it), and from what I understand, they're not supposed to!

I was reading somewhere else on VJ that this happened to some other as well; perhaps the extension letter alone could be proof enough?

I am not sure about that; also, I do quite some traveling (and have Global Entry), and was told once my green card expires in January, to keep using the Global Entry lanes, but instead of going through the kiosks, to simply have both the green card and the extension letter with me, and just proceed to an immigration officer as the kiosk would read the machine readable part of the physical green card (expired).

P.S. Why did he get an InfoPass to get the passport stamp? NOA1 is the extension letter to carry with us when we travel, and proof of ROC procedure/green card extension.

The paralegal assisting with our case recommended getting the passport stamped and set up the InfoPass appointment. She mentioned he should also carry the green card with the NOA1 to show proof of residency. He emailed the lawyer's office after the appointment to let them know about the green card, but no response as of yet, so figured we'd ask here...

Ok, please let us know what they say.

As for the I-551 stamp on the passport, it should be 100% redundant.

Out of curiosity, will you be billed by the law firm for it?

I did the first two steps (K1 and AOS) through a law firm as well (we were among the first to ask for a K1 as a same-sex couple, so we wanted some peace of mind), but then after the AOS approval and the green card, we pretty much decided we could simply follow the other steps on our own.

I am mentioning that because at some point, after one of my trips abroad, I misplaced the green card after coming in late at night; I contacted my lawyer, and he wanted THREE times what it would cost to apply for a replacement (plus the USCIS fees if I'm not mistaken), including more than $500 to get us an InfoPass appointment to get a stamp so that I could continue traveling while my I-90 was being processed.

Needless to say I politely declined and got BOTH the stamp on my passport and a new green card without any issues!

We are using the same firm who handled our AOS and they've been great over the past 2 years. I'm sure we could've done the ROC ourselves, but like you, just wanted the extra peace of mind. And to be honest, I didn't feel like dealing with the stress lol. There shouldn't be any additional charges, but I guess we'll see what happens!

I completely understand RE using a law firm. The thing with me (and with you as well, I'm assuming, since you are here on VJ!) is that I am a total control freak (nah!), and so I always end up doing the research anyway, to have extra peace of mind! LOL

Here's to NO additional fees for the I-551 stamp. I'll still be curious to know what the firm says once they read USCIS asked for his GC back.

Even I did a lot of work by myself but I end up apply thru an attorney due to uncertainty of handling the complex i751 abuse waiver. The package was delivered at CSC on Nov 18 but I haven't seen my check cashed until now.. not sure what happened and the attorney suggested to wait until Dec 9 to contact USCIS if the check is still not cashed or receive NOA by then. I saw a lot of people delivered later than mine at CSC but got NOA several days later after delivered date. I am wondering if anyone have any experience or knowledge of applying i751 thru attorney processed differently by USCIS compared with self-represented? Maybe apply thru attorney takes longer to receive NOA than self-represented cases? thanks..
