Hi all,

I will be filing for ROC in February 2017. My 2-year Green Card expires on April 25. I need to travel to Japan for the first two weeks of April. If I don't have the filing notice by the time I have to go on my trip, will I have trouble getting back in to the US using my Green Card that only has a few weeks left on it?

Welcome to the forum.

Should be a non-issue as long as your travel is completed while your GC is still valid, i.e., prior to the expiration date on your GC.

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)

if you return before your green card expires, not an issue at all

however, need to time when to file your ROC good, bear in mind that you are required to have your fingerprints and picture taken, that normally takes place around 5 weeks after you filed. sure you do not want to be out of the country at your given appointment date.
