Hello everyone,

i needed some help on the last 5 years of residence and employment. My Fiance is in the philippines living in her current address for 5 years now from June 2010 to Present. However, She worked and lived in Guam last year from June 2015 - Feb 2016. Does she need to put that on the last 5 years of residence and employment?

Yes.

She will also require a police certificate/criminal record check from that country.

if she's back in the philippines now, how can she get the police cert/criminal record from guam? she only lived and work there for business purposes.

Yes as stated she needs to list it as a residence. And she will need to get a police certificate from Guam because she lived there for more than 6 months.

Below is the link you can access and request police reports from other countries:

https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/fees/reciprocity-by-country.html

But! Guam is "tricky" as it is technically a US territory... SO would the U.S. already perform this background check while processing/NVC stage? I can not answer that specifically... perhaps another Philippines member who has this same situation can better assist though.

The police cert is for anyone over 18 years of age who lived in a another country for more than 6 months.

And it is not needed for the I-129F petition. It will be taken with your SO to the interview when you get to that phase.

oh okay, i guess the link that i posted was wrong, i thought you get a police cert if you live in a different country. see below. is my understanding wrong? hehe

If you are 16 years of age or older, you must submit a photocopy of a police certificate from the following locations:

From your... If you were... And resided there... Country of nationality At least 16 years of age At least 6 months Country of residence At least 16 years of age At least 6 months Country of previous residence At least 16 years of age At least 1 year Any country where you were arrested Any age For any timeframe

You need police cert for anywhere that you stayed for 6 months or longer... obviously if you are nomadic or work in other countries... they want to see if you cause trouble and therefore want a police clearance for everywhere you've been (6 months or longer I believe).

You NEED the police clearance for the interview as the other folks stated above.... I however decided to frontload my 129F with eveything she will be bringing to the interview in Manila. In my OPINION - I think it lends credence to the person applying and POSSIBLY could help speed up your case. I do not have any proof of this - its just what Ive gleaned from living in this site 4 hours a day. :-)

I included a FULL COLOR copy of her police clearance from Macau. It was three pages - one in Cantonese, one in English, one in Portuguese which are the three common languages of Macau. I will bring the originals of course for the interview. I obtained all orginals and all of her WET signatures during a visit to the Philippines when we launched the I129F process in addition to building more photos.

I had tons of photos from previous trips together... but nothing that showed the date/time/location with me and her in it. So when I went back to the PH I grabbed tons of photos holding up the dinner tab and things like that.

Just stay on this site and you will catch what other people learned the hard way and it will make your journey smoother.

There is no reason to include a police certificate with your I-129f. Not from Guam or from the Philippians.

Yes, front-loading is a thing, but the point of front loading is generally to provide evidence of a bona fide relationship up front, not anything to do with the police clearance.

The I-129f is the step in the process that is much more interested in whether or not the petitioner (yourself) meets all the criteria of filing for a K-1 visa.
