Can my husband pay the green card fees after he enters USA ?? How much time will the give us to pay ?? I'm not sure if it makes a difference but we filed his application at the embassy in DR. I understand his gc won't be sent until after it's paid , we didn't expect to pay close to 1500$ for 2 tickets so money is tight right now

Thanks

You may also pay the fee after you arrive in the United States. If you arrive in the United States and haven’t yet paid the USCIS Immigrant Fee, USCIS will send you a notice requesting payment with instructions on paying your fee. You will not receive your Green Card until you have paid the USCIS Immigrant Fee.

Thank you so much. I read that off the uscis website but I've also seen on the dr embassy the fees must be paid before leaving so that's what confused me. I want everything to go smoothly for us next week

You should be fine.

Some forgot (or did not know) to pay the green card fee after entering US.

After paying the fee online, the green card will be sent to you.

He will get a I-551 stamp on his passport during POE.

"UPON ENDORSEMENT SERVES AS TEMPORARY I-551 EVIDENCING PERMANENT RESIDENCING FOR 1 YEAR"

You can use it for all purposes just like any other green card till the 1 year expiration date.

The expiration date on the visa is a year from now and we definitely plan on getting the gc way before that.

Thanks merrytooth for all your help
