I'll say a prayer for your grandma, Marilyn. ((HUGS))

How old is she? If she is very senior, sometimes we have to try to understand their wishes, ya know? She is praying to be with your garand dad, maybe she just doesn't want to live with the pain anymore and she is lonely without her husband. Sometimes all we can do is pray that they get what they want and let our selfishness go. (not saying you are selfish of course, but you know what I mean...)

Please keep us posted. (L)

she is in her early 70's....

I talked with around Christmas and I could tell she was really missing my grandpa... I don't want her to suffer anymore :(

yeah, the letter thing is a good idea....

I found out Monday that my grandma died last Thursday and the funeral was on Monday :( my sis-in-law emailed me on Monday to tell me  I would have wanted to go to the funeral... My parents and sister went to the funeral (it is in another province then the one my family lives in)

Also yesterday hubby had his appointment at UCLA... they are going to do the Embolization* procedure probably in the next couple of weeks.. The doctor said it wasn't an emergency but that it would be good to get it taken care of as soon as possible.... He would probably be able to go home the same day as the procedure but he might have to stay overnight depending on how it goes....

*In endovascular embolization the surgeon guides a catheter though the arterial network until the tip reaches the site of the AVM. The surgeon then introduces a substance that will plug the fistula, correcting the abnormal pattern of blood flow. This process is known as embolization because it causes an embolus (a blood clot) to travel through blood vessels, eventually becoming lodged in a vessel and obstructing blood flow. The materials used to create an artificial blood clot in the center of an AVM include fast-drying biologically inert glues, fibered titanium coils, and tiny balloons.

ok this really blows now....

i emailed one of my aunts this morning to tell her how sorry i was about my grandma... and said that I wished I could have been there for the funeral but I found out too late...

well, my aunt just emailed me back and informed me that she had asked my mom which of her kids would want to come for the funeral and that my aunt would make the arrangements (she is a travel agent) and the money would have come out of the estate... I wouldn't have had to pay for it...

for the life of me I can't figure out why my mom didn't call and tell me about my grandma...

I feel like I have no closure with my grandma... I know she is dead but I didn't get to see it for myself... does that make sense??

Please accept my condolences. (F) I am very sorry about your grandmother's passing.

I completely understand the feeling of a lack of closure. My grandmother has Parkinsons and her condition has deteriorated rapidly in the last year. She is in another country....and should "a notice" come from family back there, I'm not sure how quickly my family and I can mobilize for any of us to get there in time. The very though scares and worries me. :( I don't have any 'wisdom' to offer, but I very much hope that you can attain that closure you desire.

I hope everything goes smoothly with your husband's upcoming medical procedure. :)

Take care,

-P

my question - what would happen to the estate if none of the kids flew? would your mom get a larger chunk of change then?

first off the "estate" probably isn't very big.. and secondly my mom wouldn't even be thinking of that....

i think my mom just forgot about me or something

So sorry to hear of your grandma:( and wish your hubby lots of luck for his embilization procedure. Maybe your mum was trying to protect you from the upsetting time of the funeral after what you have already been through.

Lots of hugs to you
