Is there any problem with completing DS-261 prior to the welcome letter? I got the case number over the phone and then just completed the form. I guess I have to wait for the letter and invoice to pay the AOS fee.

Congrats to those who got their case complete!

Today marks the end of the 7th week since the NVC received my documents... September 30th. I called and was told the scheduling for December has ended, and that scheduling for a month is done at the beginning of the previous month, so december was done in the beginning of November.

That means I have roughly 3 days to get my case completed and scheduled for an interview so that my wife can get here in january... hopefully. If not, it'll be February.

I've started this process in January 2016.

Meanwhile 750,000+ DACA (deferred action for childhood arrival) applicants - aka "children" under 31 years old - got processed before all of us.

If the IRS had sent me a letter in January 2016 and I didn't get back to them until February 2017, I'd probably have people with guns knocking on my door. This is unbelievable...

because of the accuracy of your last statement in regards to the IRS, you get VJ comment of the day in my book.

It depends at which consulate you will be interviewing. Check the website for the list of those eligible for e-mail processing: https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Submit_documents.html

Thanks so much jacklynriquelme! It turns out we are eligible for e-mail processing... I assume that is a faster route?

Hi people

got a small question, please help

regarding I-864

there r some question I don't need it

should I put all NA or can I leave blank

I know the instruction said leave no blank, but still feel weird about the detail

for example:

1. part 3, there r no other family member, so should I put NA in the column of 3a to 27. Same issue also happen at part 6, 3 to 14

2. I don't need part 7, 9, 10, 11 should I put NA all over the blank?

thank you for ur help!!

So now that I've completed DS-261 and paid my AOS fee, is there any reason not to call early this week to get them to review the DS-261 over the phone? Any tips for getting them to do that?

Just call NVC and ask to confirm your DS-261. Best to call between 7-7:30am for shortest wait time. If agent does not want to do it then call back until you get an agent that will. Once DS-261 is confirmed, it will take 2-3 days for IV fee to unlock.

Wow gregcrs2, you have the fastest processing times ever! No expedites? Or is electronic processing really that fast?!

Electronic processing and lots of calls to NVC to stay on top of things. Just lucky I was processed through USCIS Texas Service Center too. No expedites.

With the way they're moving for non-electronic people, makes me wonder if it wouldn't have been faster to have my wife move to the Ukraine first... sigh. Congrats! :)
