Along those same lines, the delays we experience from them "losing" documents or not being able to properly communicate what they want. I'm 99% certain they lost my translated marriage certificate which is ADDING at least 4 months to my case so far + the time it takes for me to get it from Japan (my wife has the original form) and resend it to NVC

Gosh that is a horrible delay with no fault of your own! Sorry :(

We are ordering next day for the BC, and then fedexing it to them. When we sent our original documents in we sent it fedex on Monday and they received it on Wednesday. That's not bad for UK to Nebraska.

Called again to ask for a supervisor again, still no one available but the guy repeated the same thing the first person said that the NVC needs to see it. I asked if there is any way to "expedite" it once the mail is there and he said "Not really".

Of course I'll still call every day once it's there asking about it...

I think it's 6 weeks irrespective of the number of pages. I had an employment visa, and they literally only had 4 pages to review as opposed to CR1 category and it still took them 8 weeks.

After reading lots of people's experience and now going through this phase of the visa journey, i came to the conclusion that packages stay in the mail-room for 6 weeks, collecting dust and 1 day to actually "review" the files. When 6 weeks are up and they don't get to it, you get a letter stating, " of yeah, we need this, we need that"

Okay - question - should I call everyday after I send the last and final batch of things over to them. I know it will take at least 2 days for it to go from Hawaii to New Hampshire - so from day 3 - calling them daily or is it just a waste of my time until it gets close to 6 weeks?

On a positive note - at least I know I can see my family in Japan in roughly 6 weeks - so got something good to look forward to over the upcoming holidays.

Scan Date 9/28, now going on week 8 soon. Still no word from NVC. What in the world is going on? No news is good news I suppose, but still, why so long to get a case closed?

Did you call and get put on supervisor review?

No news isn't always good news. I waited 8 weeks for them to tell me to send them 1 extra piece of paper and I'll have to wait another 6 weeks.

So guys...I think I'm spent... I waited on hold tonight with NVC for 45 minutes... I don't have anything complicated going on, I'm just new to NVC stage and am trying to get my IV bill unlocked and my DS-261 reviewed. (AOS shows as paid, we got the welcome letters, etc.)

The rep incorrectly told me that I had to complete my AOS package and mail it in before they would invoice us again, and then we could begin working on the DS-260 and IV package. I nicely told him that this was "confusing" (i.e.: wrong!!) because the welcome letter clearly states that everything must be sent together in 1 package... he kept correcting me and saying, "no no... that's not how its supposed to be done."

I know that there are varying levels of knowledge with the call reps - but this particular person was actually giving very incorrect information about the process! I know I need to call back and pray I get someone who knows more, but I just don't think I have another 45 wait in me tonight. :crying:

what he/she said is totally against either NVC website or welcome letter

Called today, still no case complete. was told "the supervisor moved it into "document review" so it should be soon" I asked what the timeframe of "soon" means, and they couldn't give me an answer... sigh. Tomorrow is the end of 7 weeks, time to file an ombudsman complaint and write a congressman.

From my experience once they say document review you get cc within a week .. so try to call them every 2 days

Good luck
