Trouble is that many of those going through London are either K-1 (never understood why that is so popular with Brits but that's another story...) or DCF. And neither of those groups goes through the NVC so they all have to take their original financial stuff with them to the embassy. It's hard to find an embassy review for London for a non-DCF CR-1 because there are so few of us.

So it gets confusing reading the reviews. And even the interview letter is written as if you are doing DCF too.

It is very confusing! I think by reading the reviews I have confused myself more with all this talk about (that and) going round to the next window to pay $400. That must be for DCF.

I spoke to a very nice lady at NVC yesterday to clear up some pre-interview concerns I had!

I will have 2, DXB and SEA-TAC. The thing is when my husband took this flight, he got his bags in Anchorage. When I called the Emirates office they said I need to check my bags again. I just hope the agent is wrong. :D

When you land on American space you will go through customs at that point. If you have a layover you will have to get your bags and recheck them.

Unfortunately like angelbrown said, you will have to go through customs and pick up your bags and check them back in at seatac. I am from Seattle and every time I fly in from an international flight, I have to pick up my bags. Luckily for me, Seattle is my last stop. But you shouldn't have too long of a wait. The line is usually longer for the non-immigrant/tourist side and you will be on the passport holder/immigrant side which I find is always shorter and takes less time than the other line. On the bright side, when you're done getting your passport and info checked with the customs people your bags will have already come through the baggage claim so you won't have to wait 15 minutes or so for them, they will already be there waiting for you!

we got CC on 22 Nov, confirmed via phone too

any one have clue about scheduling interviews in Cairo , i checked the spread sheet some gets it within few days , others with in 4 months from CC

hope everyone having great thanksgiving ...

I believe you will have a good chance of getting an interview in January. Our CC was at the beginning of November and my husbands interview date is for December 28th. So, I am assuming they are scheduling into January now. I recommend calling the NVC as often as possible to find out when your interview is and when your documents are shipped to Cairo.

Good Luck!

question might be silly, but do they actually inform you if you have issues with your medical outright? I mean not during the interview instead. I called for my results since they said they will send me a copy but I was told it has been mailed to the embassy 3 days ago and they have sent me a vaccination report as well.

I would like to assume its all good :)

As you have already been informed and I said it that I saw a lot of people in DC airport go through baggage claim before their final flight, you will have to go through the customs before your baggage and then check them in again, unfortunately.

In dubai, you will not have to worry about it.

So my husband had the same concern when his medical was done. The medical clinic informed him that they don't send his information forward unless it was all good and nothing to worry about. We will get to know everything once we enter US. It looks like they do inform the embassy that nothing is to be worried about before proceeding with the interview. so i think it is all good.

I am not sure if I'll need a consent letter from my son's father when we're going to the embassy for our interview however, I would like to get one done and notarized. Has anyone had to get a consent letter done from the other parent and is there an example of a sample letter I can follow?

I didn't hear anything about my medical (and assumed all was OK) but I am the kind to panic so I called the medical place and asked if my file had been sent to the embassy and if all was OK. She said she couldn't discuss particulars over the phone (as I expected) but could tell me it had gone to the embassy and there were 'no issues'.
