K1 London to AOS - medical confusion

Hi,

I have read threads and guides on here but am still stumped. Can someone please explain to me what I need to submit with my AOS package to cover the medical part?

The I-693 looks like it needs to be filled in by a civil surgeon??

As long as you had your K1 medical exam within the last year, and completed all your vaccines - the only thing you should submit is a copy of the ds3025 (vaccination form) from that examination. You do not need a new medical unless your old has expired or USCIS specifically asks for one.

Did you receive a DS3025 from Knightsbridge?

Did you receive your vaccinations prior to visiting Knightsbridge or during Knightsbridge?

Or did you receive them stateside?

If yes to the first two questions, as long as you file your AOS within a year of having the medical at Knightsbridge, your medical is still valid. You will send a photocopy of the DS3025 (keep a copy for your records) with your AOS packet to the USCIS. So long as everything is in order with the DS3025 (filled out correctly, and you've had the shots required) it is generally fine. However, keep in mind that regardless of if everything is in order on your part - sometimes the USCIS will still request that you get the vaccination sheet recertified by a US civil surgeon and in some few unfortunate cases request a new medical entirely. This is either due to them not knowing the rules about a K1, Knightsbridge not filling out the DS3025 correctly, losing the DS3025 you send them, not bothering to go find your original medical paperwork, losing the original paperwork, or it is delayed in some way.

If this happens you will take the I-693 to the US civil surgeon of your choice, along with proof of your vaccinations and have them compete the appropriate pages (as listed in the instructions for the form) and recertify the vaccination sheet.

If you did not receive your vaccinations until after Knightsbridge or stateside, then the DS3025 won't be much use in sending with the AOS. You will have to go to the US civil surgeon of your choice with the I-693 and get it all certified for AOS.

If you are a K-1, K-2, K-3 or K-4 visa holder the I-693 instructions state that you are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485 is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination. If you are missing any shots from your overseas medical a I-693 vaccination transcription is required to be completed by seeing a Civil Surgeon to have certain portions of the I-693 completed and have the Civil Surgeon certify the form (sealing the original in an envelope and giving you a copy).

The I-693 instructions confirm that pretty much (even if the officer handling your AOS case can't understand their own rules).

So in short: if everything is in order = send a DS3025 copy (keep in mind they still could request the I-693 at a later date).

If the shots were received after the medical = you're going to need that recertified with a I-693.
