N-400 while I-751 stuck on "security checks"

Hello all, Visa Journeyers!

I have a quick question and hoping to get some feedback from someone here.

I applied for ROC way back on Nov 2015, my case went to CSC, which usually takes about 6 months to process ROC applications. After hearing nothing for about 6 months, we got hit with an RFE in July to which we replied within a week. After not hearing back for 2 months we put in for a SR, which yielded the much dreaded:

"We have placed your case on a processing hold because the required security checks remain pending. Until we receive the results of these security checks, we cannot move forward on your case. We require the results of security checks before we make a decision on any pending case."

I originally got my GC through marriage, and AOS took 4 months, everything included, so my first biometrics cleared really fast. I'm originally from Mexico, but have a very uncommon name and no criminal records at all. So I can't understand how biometrics went from taking literally 1 month the first time, to taking almost a year the second time, especially since I've been in the US since 2000. So I'm pretty sure that my FP got lost or something went wrong at FBI level.

So now I've filed for naturalization while I-751 is still pending. I've read that filing for citizenship will sometimes trigger whatever happened and get the I-751 "unstuck". But I'd like to hear if anyone has had this same experience, or if you think there's a chance that my naturalization application will get stuck again on security checks since it already happened once.

Thanks for your help! =)

Hey, can I asked you if the Security check was every cleared? I am in the same boat now and my SC is pending but can't apply for N400 yet.
