I just wanted everyone to know that I got my interview date scheduled for November 29th!!

I am SO EXCITED, but also really nervous!!

Anyone who has done their interview recently, any tips?
What did you bring?

I was thinking about bringing some evidence that proves our relationship was bonafide while we were dating, leading up until we got married, up until this present day?

Pictures, chat logs, receipts, joint credit card accounts, gym membership..

We live at home with his mother right now, while we are saving up a down payment for a house.
Should we get her to sign a letter stating that I live with them, type of thing?

I'm also on his Health insurance, car insurance and the family phone plan.

If anyone could give me ANY advice, I'd appreciate it sincerely!!

Happy for you my friend, my local office is also Buffalo, NY. Processing times shows they are still processing cases through Februrary 28, 2016. They received my RFIE response on March 17. Can you tell me when did you file i-485? I am worried about my case as i haven't received interview notice yet.

Hey! :)

I know nothing about forum placement, to be honest. Lol

But I am adjusting my status off being married, I don't know if that makes a difference.

Sorry for being crazy confusing.

Hey!

I'm sorry to hear that you are still waiting.

We got married in April and filed for the I-485 in the first week of June.

Everything went pretty speedy up until I got my fingerprints taken (The Biometrics appointment.)

Then it took 6 months for them to schedule our Green Card Interview.

Have you tried making an infopass appointment to see what's going on?

I'd bring a letter from your MIL just to be sure, and proof of the insurance. Otherwise it looks like you're all set.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

I know it's scary but don't be nervous. Most people find their AOS interviews pleasant and fun, actually. If no red flags, especially, there is little need to worry. I know it's easy for me to say on this side and hard for you to believe on your side, but soon you'll be on this side :)

Haha, thank-you so much for the kind words!

I found out yesterday and pretty much cried out of happiness and then the panic ensued.

I have so much information to gather, I'm happy they gave me a month's notice.

I've been to the place where they hold interviews, once for my fingerprints and once for an infopass appointment.

I didn't have a bad experience, the security guy even remembered/liked me. lol.

I am just a worrier.

I think I'll feel better when I have all of my ducks in a row - I'm currently working on obtaining evidence now for the interview.

Congrats on getting the interview scheduled. I did mine exactly a week ago (Oct 25, 2016) in San Jose, CA. I prepared this way:

  • I received interview notice a month ahead. Reading the interview notice, I realized that may need both husband and wife's birth certificates. I couldn't find it at home so I ran to storage and it's in one of the boxes. (Turns out the officer didn't even look at it but just in case)
  • Also started digging out the whole copy of what I submitted back in Jan 2016 with 2014 tax returns. I read from others' experiences that it is good to bring updated tax returns and recent pay stubs with you so that officer is convinced the petitioner can still support the beneficiary. (Turns out the officer DID take a copy of the updated tax return and recent pay stubs!).
  • For our case, we did travel outside of US and return with AP, so it is crucial to make a copy of that AP with Paroled stamp. Plus bring all the admission documents before, such as F1 (for our case), I-94, I-20, new and old passports, etc.
  • For bona fide, as we still haven't had our wedding yet, I need to scroll down the FB timeline and print out all pictures since 2012. Plus of course Marriage Certificate, common credit cards, joint bank accounts, joint insurance cards, etc. You name it.
  • We read about others' experiences and possible questions and started asking each other every detail from day 0 to now!

Came the interview day we arrived at 10:15 for our 10:30 interview time. No line! After checking in, we went to restroom and settled in the waiting room at around 10:25. Officer lady came grab us at 10:35 and we all walked to the her room. Officer started with beneficiary's I-485 first, asking to see all documents and putting check marks on the actual form she had in her binder. Then moved on to petitioner's I-130 details. After that, here we go with Bona Fide:

  • Officer started asking for our story from the very beginning... How did you two meet? Where? When?
  • Who made the first move to make it a relationship?
  • Did both sets of parents meet?
  • Why decided to get married?
  • Any pictures and supporting information? (I thought pictures with us 2 would be enough, but Officer wanted to see pictures with us and parents/friends in it)

After all that, I thought we did okay, but the officer said she will review the case and we will be notified in a month or two. We thanked her and walked out, thinking what we had said or done wrong. After reading others' cases, we thought we should not be worried too much, if everything is okay, we will be notified probably in a day or two...

Turned out that was the case! After a day, we got an email notification from USCIS saying our case was approved! And yesterday another notification saying the card is mailed.

So you shouldn't worry too much if you two are a true couple lol!
