When my husband and I filed for my 1st green card we used a lawyer (bad idea). Back then we were miss-informed about the process of me taking my husbands last name. We were told to do after the initial issuance of the green card. Turns out we could've just put his last name as mine on the application... We are about to start the paperwork for removing conditions (no lawyer this time) and I saw on the 751 that there is a separate box for maiden name of applicant. My question is now, am I able to just put my husbands last name as mine in application and it will get changed? I don't want it to be delayed because of it. Maybe they will have a harder time to find me in their system if I don't have the same last name that I did on my original paperwork. Any insight, or personal experiences are appreciated. Thanks in advance.
