Hello everyone,

This is a question for a friend of mine:

Here it's a short story for understand:

About 4 years ago, an illigal lady used to be battered by her partner; them one day, she knock at my friends house asking for a place to stay over night. So he counseled her to report her aggressor; she didn't!!!

She went back to the guy, and my friend call to police,

Police went to the house, and the woman was "released"

After 6 months she was approved to be legal, and today she is a citizen, ( I'm telling what I was told)

MY QUESTION IS:

Is any possibility, for the person who helped to have any benefit after all?

That happened at Connecticut.

He's been in the USA for about 17 years.

Thank you guys!

Welcome to the forum.

It would seem that your friend didn't tell you some of the pertinent specific details, like what transpired in the 6 month period, etc..... Not enough information to make any kind of statement about what transpired.

Money?, a thank you card?

So the person who helped is illegal also.

You mean like obtaining legal status based on being good Samaritan?

I think the person who helped is desperately grasping.

Thank you for your answer!

That's all what I know,

I'm not sure if the guy went to jail, all what I know she is a citizen...

And after listen this story, I remember someone telling me abou if you help police w something, you may got benefits...

They may have been referring to the U visa.

Won't help the guy who helped by calling the police at all.

The whole story sounds suspect. Don't know how she would go from being an illegal to citizenship in 6 months. Even immigrants on asylum from countries at war don't get citizenship that fast.

The benefit is usually a cash reward. What he did was not something that had cash reward attached to it.And if the guy wants any reward he should be asking the victim not that state (as in nation).

The law of clean hands may apply here. he has no legal grounds to make such request.
