EAD Renewal - Permanent Resident

Hi everyone,

So I'm filing for the renewal of my work permit and I just can't figure out what my Eligibility Category is.

I am a permanent resident (alien, not citizen) with a greencard valid until 2018. I entered the USA with a K1, no kids, last year and got married to my now husband. I have already received a work permit before so that was obviously granted.

I am not "pending approval"... I don't really know what I am now. lol

Halp!

Also: how long did it take on overage for you guys to receive your new work permit? I'm honestly running late, it expires in 2.5 months, I totally lost track of time so I'm hoping it goes faster than the recommended 120 days... If not, I'm sure I can figure something out with my employer. But yeah, pretty stupid.

Thanks so much already!

Nele

Oh and last time I filed for my work permit along with my adjustment of status, so should I fill out "Department Of Homeland Security" at question nr. 11 "Have you ever before applied for employment authorization from USCIS"? - "If Yes, which USCIS Office?"
Or what would be the correct answer? I honestly don't even remember what it was all called...

Thank you so much and have a great day!

If you have a I-551 Green Card (whether it is a 2-year conditional Permanent Resident, or a 10-year Permanent Resident), you do not need a I-765 Employment Authorization Document (EAD). The Green Card supersedes the EAD.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)

You're a Lawful Permanent Resident so you don't need a work permit. Your proof of that authorizes you to work and travel. If your SSN still has the legend "valid for work only with dhs authorization", visit the SSA with your permanent resident card to have it removed and get an unrestricted SS card without it.
