It's needed for my case to be completed but they did not list it in the checklist of items to bring. They told me I needed it when I was already at the interview.

It's on the embassy website...

StephLightner I am not in the same category or country. But if I were you I would be happy that its just the CENOMAR they want. And be glad they kep your passport. They sometimes give it back.

Cherry up you'll soon be approved and be with your hubby. Its just another hurdle in the journey ok. Good luck

Yeah I did not research at all because I based it solely on the official letter the NVC gave me where they did not list the CENOMAR. Yes, it is entirely my fault my case is delayed. Thank you very much for pointing it out.

StephLightner - I would not have brought the CENOMAR either. Based off reading the link to the PDF from Manila's US Embassy, it would not apply to you.

First, it states: CERTIFICATE OF NO MARRIAGE RECORD (if applicable) and as you are married, it wouldn't blatantly be applied to you since the document requested above it was a MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE (if applicable).

US Embassy is probably just taking additional steps since there is a lot of immigration from Philippines. You gave them the requested information and ordered the additional info, so don't worry.

BTW - As someone who lives in Colorado, I was not happy to read about the conversation of marijuana either. I would say it was out of line for the CO, but they are given such wide area to work it people accept it. I moved to Colorado 2 years ago, and have not smoked, nor been tempted. If I even tried it "once" I would lose my job. Government jobs do not allow for enjoyment of such recreation - even in Colorado.

Every embassy is different; they ask for certain documents that NVC doesn't care to ask from you because their only job is to make sure you have the "usual" documents. This is why it is always advised to do your research also as to avoid delays. Before my husband had his interview at Manila, I made sure to go over everything NVC gave me and also what was on the embassy website. I also read about the beneficiary being asked for not only their CEMAR/CENOMAR but also the petitioner's, which is why I had my husband get mine as well. And lo and behold, they asked for my CEMAR.

But anyway, just submit the document they are looking for and you should get the approval soon after.

When applied for and get a hit, as in there is a marriage it's cenmar,.....certificate of marriage. This is different than the marriage certificate. It's always asked for.....and talked about all the time the PI forums.

It's a Philippine specific thing and needed for any immigrant or fiance(e) visa.

Exactly. I did not think it would apply to me since I was already married.

The marijuana comment caught me really off guard. I think it is very rude to assume that just because it is state legal in Colorado that an immigrant will of course smoke it. I am very aware it is federally illegal.

I did. It's already waiting to be picked up by the embassy. I am here on this forum mostly for assurance because I am a very anxious person.

This is the first time I've signed up at Visa Journey and I have not visited any PI forums at all. I based all my info and decisions of what to bring by what the NVC has informed me with.

I don't fault you for what you brung, or why you bring it. I'm sure in the instructions it said to check with the embassy website...maybe it didn't. Either way, you should have no issues from here out.

My CENOMAR/CEMAR was asked in the Interview letter but I knew it beforehand that it is required because of visa journey, so thanks to visa journey. Fast forward interview day, everything went well except that I was given 221g for my petitioner's CENOMAR/CEMAR since he's a naturalized us citizen, I didn't see that coming. After interview, I went to NSO Pasay and requested for my husband's CEMAR. 2 weeks after interview, ceac status showed ISSUED, so happy and ecstatic. Keep on checking ceac for your status. Be patient and just hang in there.

Thank you for this. This is so reassuring. I am so grateful for your comment. Really, thank you.
