Hi,

We're filing the I-485 and I-130 together. I have all of the supporting documents but the things they need seem to overlap, do I need to send just one copy with both forms or individual copies for each form?

Also, what do I need to write in a cover letter? I saw the example on VisaJourney but we're filing for a different type of visa.

Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated :)

04/02/2007 - Mailed I-485 & I-130 for myself and 2 daughters

04/04/2007 - Package arrived in Chicago

04/10/2007 - Package received at MSC

04/16/2007 - NOA received for myself and 1 daughter

04/18/2007 - NOA received for other daughter (delayed by incorrect address).

04/27/2007 - Biometrics scheduled - arrived 2 hours early due to overcautious husband, let us go in early and were all done 15 minutes later.

04/30/2007 - All touched.

06/21/2007 - All touched.

06/28/2007 - Initial interview scheduled for all.

06/28/2007 - All approved with stamp.

07/02/2007 - Received Welcome letters.

Hi Devilette,

I went to your link and it was general info about adjusting. I have done all the paperwork and have searched VJ for help but can't find a thread about whether to send multiple copies of birth certs/marriage certs/etc or if 1 copy is fine with 2 forms. I've been married for several years so adjusting too quickly is the complete opposite of my situation :)

A cover letter is not required for AOS, but is a good idea.

You need to give them exactly what they ask you on each form. So if I-130 asks for Birth Certificate copy, and I-485 asks for a Birth Certificate copy, send 2 (one attached to each form).

Individual copies of supporting docs for I-130, and I-485, because they get separated and processed separately once they get to USCIS.

As for cover letter, just take the one shown here and reword it to fit your case.

Many good sugestions for the packing of your case can be found on the USCIS Site.
