Hello @fishe23a!

Thanks so much for this info! The reason why i need it is cos i will need this letter to settle some documents on my part (as they do not process without any reason). In that case I will just ask Alex (my fiance) to send me a clear scanned copy. I don't want to delay this as well & to wait for nothing haha. good thing i asked here!

I have told Alex the info you just said so we're both clear about it!

is this > (https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx) same account where I key in my DS-160? Im not sure about it, need your help :/

I already started doing it but i dont have my case number yet so i used my receipt number from before and just update it later on.

Not sure about this one too.. For our visa type, are we the one who will schedule our interview date? or every consulate is different?

thanks in advance!!

Val

As far as I am aware, they are different parts of the same website, yes. However, we have not received our NVC case number yet either, and I haven't gone through this process before - so someone else may be better able to answer that question.

Once the embassy receives your case from the NVC, they do send you information regarding next steps. I am not sure how different it is for every country; this used to be called "Packet 3" and it contained necessary forms. At the London Embassy, where my fiance will have her interview, the only thing you get in the mail now is a simple letter explaining where to find the online forms for the next steps on the UK government website. In the UK, yes - she will be the one who will schedule her interview date once everything else has been completed (proof of immunizations, medical exam, receipt of her police/background check, her receipt of the I-134 affidavit of support for sponsorship from me, completion of DS-160 and visa payment, etc). I haven't done research for other countries so I can't speak to whether this is true or not for everyone. I have noticed doing a quick search here on VJ that there are various forums for Singapore K-1 visas with topics on police check, medical exam, US consulate information, etc. These forums might have more information for you.

I thought immunizations don't have to be done until we get married state side before filing for change of status?

And to you!! Quick note - in your timeline you have listed 2/7 and 2/10 as the dates of your NOA2 app and hardcopy, but listed them as 2016 with the months backward compared to the US months (VJ operates on US calendars, which for some bizarre reason list month/day/year rather than day/month/year) - you may want to update to give others a very accurate picture of the overall process! Good luck to you!

Correct. However, it'll almost always be much cheaper to do it outside the US. And for your own protection as well as those around you, you should probably get them beforehand anyway.

You won't qualify for US health insurance until after marriage, and those shots aren't that cheap paying out of pocket.

Edit: And yes, as @fishe23a noted, it's possible whoever does the immunizations will not sign off on the medical form because it requires them to certify that they have examined the individual (which they have not, really).

This is true. You do not need immunizations until you file the I-485 for adjustment of status. However, some VJ members have reported they had to pay completely out of pocket over again in order to get the immunizations and another medical showing that they have the approved immunizations once they come to the US, which can be very costly. This is because the required form for proof of appropriate immunizations is DS-3025, which some civil surgeons will not fill out and sign unless you are seeing them for an immigration medical exam. It's therefore more cost effective to cross your T's and dot your I's by receiving all of the necessary vaccinations or proof of immunization status (via blood draws for immunity if you cannot obtain a physical copy of your immunization history) prior to the K-1 and not have to worry about that part once you enter the US for adjustment of status purposes.

Not sure if this had been shared before but I found this useful site for all those who will be going through the K1/K2 petition process specific to the Philippines. Some of you might have this site down already, I wish I could've found it earlier but this is still useful even beyond POE.

Hey everyone, I don't know if this question has been asked already (apologies if it has, and if someone can direct my to the thread or post that would be greatly appreciated), but can someone travel to the United States after the visa has been granted, without the visa, but with the intention to return to their country, and move to the US at a later date?

My best friend is getting married in September, and I know I have some time between my (calculated) VISA approval date and moving date, but she has her bachelorette happening in Vegas in July. Does anyone know if this is allowed?

Probably not. The visa will usually be placed in your passport anyway.
