November 14, approved February 2. it was a long wait, I know the pain, but some of us waiting lot longer. so consider my self lucky.

Shots??? Did u apply for K1 visa? Its my knowledge and understanding vaccination is not required for K1 applicant's, it is requested before AOS. You are ENCOURAGED but NOT REQUIRED at time of examination for the Embassy

Correct. But usually people get them at the same time (or for cheaper before the medical). It's honestly an unnecessary risk (for yourself and others around you) to not get them beforehand IMHO.

Maybe it is all of the people who file on their own who are NOT ON VJ, so they make many errors ! This site is a Godsend :-)

Yes to this!!

 

At SLMC here in the Philippines, it is optional for the beneficiary if he/she wants the shots but it is practical to take advantage of it since it is already included on the fee that you will be paying which is $$$$ (expensive)

 

That way, you would also have a record of it. not sure how it works with other medical agencies from around the globe.

To all the members of this thread that have been approved and will be approved in the future, the attitude towards immigration, regardless of what classification (trust me unless you are or have been in the process, no one knows the difference) it is, has changed in the USA within the last year. The process although mostly unchanged at this time is due to go through an update and/or overhaul due to this administration. We have already seen what has happened so far this year and although it has died down somewhat, it is and should be, a very real concern to us. Some people say "oh no K1 visas are special and safe and nothing happened to those visa holders." I tell you this isn't true. K1 visas from those named countries were affected and rejected due to hasty and poorly worded rules that came from the executive order. Calls in Congress and critics state that the order didn't go far enough and should have included even more countries. These include countries who have encountered recent internal terrorism such as the Philippines, France, and Brazil. In the past rules have taken time to write and processes worked out, but that is not the case anymore for whatever reason. 

 

my thoughts to you all is to get your fiance here as soon as the visa is approved. I understand that people have things to wrap up (work, family, friends, etc.), but if they wait, things could easily have changed by then. 

 

Good luck explaining this news to your fiance who doesn't live here yet and doesn't understand the political environment and uncertainty that we are living in at the moment, 

 

Maybe I am being alarmist, but knowing people who administer this process are uncomfortable about being able to do their job at this time, I can tell you that this is a real cause for concern. I'm hoping everyone on this thread gets approved soon...hopefully by the end of the month.

It is recommended to get them before entering the US so that the paperwork is all in order for AOS.  As the verification must be done by a civil surgeon (?) in the US I have seen several reports here on VJ on other threads where the beneficiary has had to pay for another full medical just in order to get the vaccinations verified by an approved doctor for the AOS.  Much simpler to get the vaccinations and get the paperwork when applying for the K1 at the overseas medical.

This is a sensible approach.  I have to wait unitl early July to move as I am waiting for my son to finish high school - but in theory I could possibly have my visa in April.  Although I feel fairly 'safe' in that I am from the UK, I'm not sure that any of us can predict what will happen next - so to all those of you who are free to move as soon as your visa comes through, I'd agree - go sooner rather than later.

Not really, I did all paper work myself, send it and then I found this site. There is a lot of info online that you can find.Forms are simple enough to follow directions yourself.
