Yes, those seams to be popular.

For those interested you might find the attached interesting on the beneficiary countries. I think Filipinos make up 20% of all applications.

Jim

In my little bit of experience, there is always traffic in Manila. :D

But if there's beer and sizzling sisig, I suppose it's all good.  B-)

Let me tell you, it might be a lie. You won't be happy if she's far away.

In VN we have a saying: "Live a Western style, eat Chinese food, and marry a Japanese wife" :P

That is nice! Sounds like I-134 was not needed in his visa interview.

Was he also able to AOS while the US citizen is not working?

I heard that the intending immigrant's income can be used in I-864. So I suppose if he filed EAD (valid for 90 days) first with a fee as soon as he arrived in the US, then found a job, then filed AOS and another 1-year valid EAD, it is possible.

28 minutes ago, geowrian said:

That's (generally) inaccurate. The point of the I-864 is to ensure the immigrant will not become a public charge. In order to qualify to be a joint sponsor, you must either be a USC or have worked 40 quarters (10 years) legally within the US.

Hm, that was just my impression from a while ago. So I just found the instruction of I-864 that "Expires 07/31/2017". here is some quote from Page 7:

2. If you included the income of the intending immigrant who is your spouse (he or she would be counted in Part 5., Item Number 1.), you must provide evidence that his/her income will continue from the current source after obtaining lawful permanent resident status, and the intending immigrant must provide evidence that he or she is living in your residence.

In addition, the immigrant's assets can also be used, and this is quoted form Page 9:

Item Numbers 6. - 9. Assets of the Intending Immigrant. You may use the assets of the intending immigrant regardless of where he or she resides. The intending immigrant must provide evidence of such assets with this affidavit. Add together Item Numbers 6. - 8. and enter the total number in Item Number 9. Form I-864A is not required to document the intending immigrant’s assets.

Hopefully I am not missing or misunderstanding something.
