Special IT skills? Nah. But I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you... :jest: (I hate that movie, but love these lines!)  But seriously, it's just experience...a college CS student could do this if they just had some guidance on where to look.

Awesome.  Well, as a few have already said, I'm so glad you in with us Novermbers!!!

@geowrian: So intelligent!Just wow! Good thing the dec thread was not available so you've stayed with Nov thread.haha! Seriously, thank you so much to you and to everyone who has been giving us updates.

Nah, I'm really not. It's just passion. I love building things! I've built a bunch of other things for personal use throughout the years just to push my understanding: guestbooks (WAY back), those AIM tracking status things in your profile, Keep In Touch (KIT).to anonymously send photos, chat with, and tag people you meet at conventions, and most recently (Still a WIP!!!) a tool for synchronizing watching a streaming video over the Internet. Take a wild guess where that last idea came from... hint: movie nights!

Hi guys,

December filer here, so when do you think they will start touching the December files???... I'm kinda depressed with all this waiting... And despite the fact that I read this forum daily I think we are not moving forward with our petitions... and I get discouraged and keep thinking our petition will be approved by December this year... it feels they take longer every day... =(

Hi fellow December filer....nice to meet u. I think if USCIS keeps up the speed at which they have been on for the last two days, we could hear something at the end of Feb or somewhere in March. Anyways, welcome to the thread

Aww. It's a web app (website) where my fiance and I can watch a movie together. If one of us pauses or goes back or something, it does the same for the other. So we can call/video chat/whatever (I can add video chat in the website later) and both watch the movie together. Her connection is pretty bad, so when we tried to do movie nights in the past, I constantly ended up 10-20+ minutes ahead of her and had to go back and re-watch sections.

The long-term goal is getting it integrated into something like Youtube, Netflix, Hulu, etc. so you can setup viewing parties with friends. It's like how you can rent a movie and watch it with others ion the same room, but doing the same over the Internet. One person rents/buys a digital movie and then can invite friends to watch it with them online for free (so long as the person who paid for it remains in the digital room and the rental period is still valid).

so 10 per night average = 25 more work days.

November 7th should be cleared out by end of February including RFE's. - maybe

Jim

It should be sooner than that because with each day going forward there are fewer older cases to be processed - so at the moment around 75 cases are being touched per day for the most 'active' processing bracket.  So we seem to be moving forward at a rate of 75 cases per day - and there are only 510 cases in the active window ahead of November 7th. So I'd estimate - if the rate keeps up - we should be hitting the 7th in about 7 working days - and it should take around 4 days to clear - so before Valentine's day!  I am case received on the 9th - that would be a lovely Valentine's gift! (Though I estimate it'll be a few days after).  I had decided not to panic until the end of March so any movement at the moment is encouraging.  The RFEs seem to get turned around quickly so even that would be a blessing at this point.  I would think that you are right that by the end of February the RFEs should be back and approved too.  Yours MUST be doing something this week Jim... Maybe today!

A few pages back, somebody asked about adjusting for foreign fiancé(e)s in the U.S. We're in the lucky position of not having to worry about that. I'm the beneficiary, and since I grew up with English (third mother tongue or, more accurately, native language), have completed two terms at an American university, and have been to the U.S. an estimated 20 times in my life, the only couple of things I will have to do once I arrive are getting a social security number, a driver's license, and a bank account, which will be taken care of in almost no time (okay, the driver's license largely depends on the DMV, and we all know how these people can make you wait... However, I will be used to it "thanks" to USCIS). Other than that, I already feel much more at home there than I do where I still live now.

For those of you who need to improve their English / need their fiancé(e)s to improve their English, I'm a linguist and a certified language instructor, and from experience, I can tell you that the more exposure a language learner can get, the faster they will learn the language. Mistakes and errors are crucial in learning a language, so don't worry about these too much. You may want to start off with easy situations such as the grocery store or filling out forms, smalltalk and having simple conversations with friends. Watching TV, especially shows that are already known, usually helps as well; in fact, that's what I suggested my mom do in order for her to understand my future in-laws when she comes over to attend our wedding. Her level of English is quite okay, but she's used to the British variety of English, and random talk is still hard for her to understand, especially when people speak at the speed they usually do when they hold a conversation. If you need any more advice, I'm more than happy to help.
