Seems to me that one day of petitions takes more than a week to process. So I am about 15 weeks away or so. Any thought on my estimate?

With how USCIS is working, it is very hard to predict! ?

Amye, I want to encourage you to visit your fiance. Mine lives in Houston too, and I did visit him in Houston in November, a month after we sent our petition. I am also self-employed, and my only daughter is in the USA studying in college. Imagine, how illusional my "ties" must be in the eyes of CBP. Going through passport control was easy-breezy, as almost always in IAH. The CBP officer looked at my return ticket and asked me what was the purpose of my visit. I said I was visiting my fiance. He said, but you left like only a month ago  (I was in Houston in September). I replied that "for a normal person a month is a short time, but for someone in love and separated from their loved one it feels like eternity". He smiled at me and stamped my passport.

You might want to look through this thread

It's too long and old to read it all, you can limit yourself to the last 10-20 pages. It helped me to be prepared. I brought along the copy of our NOA1, a letter from my fiance explaining that we are not going to get married on visitor visa or violate the immigration laws in any other way, printed out my non-refundable return ticket. None of it, except the ticket, was needed but I had peace of mind.

Thank you very much for the encouragement.  I actually booked a flight last night.  I'm quite nervous about being denied but I know I'll be going through customs in Calgary so if I do get denied, I'll just stay there and have a visit with my sister instead of wasting the cost of a flight and having to get another immediate return ticket.  But, the point is, thanks to this site, I BOOKED A TICKET!!!!!  41 more sleeps!!!!

I truly hope that's not the case.  It's absolutely unsustainable.  They HAVE to get to a point where they're processing as many in a day as they're receiving or they would be so incredibly far behind by now....15 days to process one day's worth of received applications....they'd be years behind.  It just can't be the case.

Congratulations on booking your flight. As others have stated before, you'll be fine. I shared my last entry story in the Yes, you can visit thread; in a nutshell, after having traveled in and out of the country every 6-8 weeks on average for the last 2.5 years, I only got harassed once, and in the end, they still let me in. I'll be having my fingers crossed for you, but I'm sure you won't even need it :)

I went to see my fiance in December, and Customs in Toronto didn't ask a single question about my application, nor was their "interrogation" any different from past visits. I think every officer is different, and I think based on the consistent travel we've made, there is an eventual return date. It's always good to be overprepared, in case something does happen.

wowwww, Sedona, u finally got approved!!!! am so excited, its as though i am the one who got it. Thanks Jim for this thread, because of it i was able to interact with Sedona in a private chat and even became friends with her on fb coz am from Uganda and will be using the Kenya consulate. Sedona, lets keep in touch as I will need to know the the experience of the entire process thru NVC and the consulate

Yes KF & OS, It's like watching your friends win the lottery..lol..Hope the good luck rubs off on all of us.

It really does help to have someone to go through the process with especially at the embassy level. There are 100's of filers for Philippines but not quite as many for Kenya so great that you found a connection here.

We plan on calling NVC two weeks after NOA2 date, so next week. Meanwhile, I am working on preparation for my medical exam, need to renew some vaccination.

Great plan. Hoping for a super fast trip for you at NVC.

As for vaccination unless you get them for free you may want to hold off as part of the medical which you will pay for, it will include vaccinations.

Here in the UK we can get vaccinations free from our own doctor but will have to pay if we get them at the London medical - I know we don't have to have them before the AOS medical - are they included in that medical cost?

I wish it did, Jim. Here in Moscow for vaccination at MOM (the only place that authorized to conduct medical exam for immigration) you have to pay extra. Vaccination is mandatory in Russia, and I got almost everything that was required as a child, but aged out of some vaccination :) Time to get another couple shots.

Getting stressed now ? Filed October 31st and still no answer, especially as people filing after us are getting their NOA2 now.... sorry to moan!

Hi Emjon, I know exactly how I feel just check out my signature line. Your name is there to.

Well a little good news I think it is good news.

As of 1:30pm PST (CSC time) today 1/26 there are 24 RFE's for 10/31 that is the most in 1 days since we filed AND the day is not over.

Well RFE you might say is a bad thing, depends how we look at it. Of course NOA 2 is the golden ticket but at least with RFE we know our case is not lost or forgotten.

Lets not forget that poor souls from back in May who just got their NOA 2 this week and they had NO RFE.

So check your lottery tickets 10/31 filers you may have an RFE today. Hopefully no one from this thread and we all get NOA 2 TODAY :dancing:
