lol Huh?  I'm the Canadian.  He's the Houstonian.  You think I won't have a problem flying to Houston with a pending application?

Prior to NOA2, probably not. They may ask you why you're visiting, which might be an issue since the answer is to see your fiance. After NOA2, you will likely have a much harder time as you now have documented immigrant intent.

Edit: That said, he shouldn't have any trouble visiting you, though.

I believe my return wouldn't be so bad if I was denied.  I think I'd have to fly to Calgary which is where my sister lives and that's where they would accept or deny me.  If I wasn't able to go to Houston, I could just stay there with my sister instead.  That sound right to anyone?  They're not gonna let me get all the way to Houston and then send me back through Calgary to Vancouver.  Just doesn't make sense.

It depends on where you would go through immigration.  Some airports in Canada (like Toronto) allow you to go through immigration before you leave Canada.  I would imagine that Calgary would too.  If you went through immigration in Houston, that's where they would approve or deny entry.

I just called an airline to check.  They said wherever you go through customs is where you would be accepted/denied which in my case would be either Vancouver if my flight went from Van to a connector in the US or Calgary if my connection is in Cal.  Cal would be the best bet for my money....at least I'd get a trip and a visit with my sister for the cost of the flight.

Thanks for the information VinceKath... our case was also received 11/3 with NOA1 dated for 11/7 and received text/email 11/8.
I hope we do only have 9 days left! So happy to hear that 21 cases for our date were approved yesterday. If its not too much trouble could you keep me updated/post your findings?

Hi Ilaz,

USCIS processed 12 cases received on 11/3. 9 were approved and 3 were RFE's, we're down to 144 petitions with "Case was Received" status, this is as of 7 PM PST. Not as good as 01/24 but still something. I'll check later tonight if anything changes.

Thanks for that update, VinceKath.  I'm the other half of amye's case and yeah, we're just figuring out today that the processing times aren't exactly close.  Thanks to everyone for your patience with us as we try to read through the forum.  I'm sure some things we might ask have been posted somewhere before, and we'll do our best to search and read first but ultimately may ask a repetitive question.
