Hi,

I'm very new here.  The VJ CSC processing date today is Dec 1, 2016 and my date of receipt was Nov 28, 2016 but I have not received a status change; it still says "My Case was Received".  Anyone have any insights on this?

Thank you!

That's not true.  I read the first page of 110 pages.

Edit to add: I did say I'm very new here.  If your suggestion is that I will find some answers to my questions if I read back through this thread, you could say that instead of being rude to a new member who does't know the ropes yet.  But thank you for the warm welcome.

LOL, good answer. In a nut shell: that date means nothing. There are hundreds, if not thousands, people in a queue ahead of you, who have filed their petitions earlier. Read the last 10 pages and you will see.

Welcome Amye, it is normal that your case still states "my case was received" our received date is November 3rd and we still haven't heard anything (we've only received a NOA1 as many others here have) and it seems California Service Center (CSC) is just starting back up on processing of peoples applications after a long lull starting the beginning of December and ending about the middle of January. CSC still seems to be working on the last of the end of October cases and is slowly starting on the beginning of November cases.

Your status will not change until your petition is approved AKA you "receive NO2".

May take 30+ days. Best of luck!

Guys, while you all are waiting, would you mind to share whether you've developed plans already with your fiances, how they are going to adapt to their new life in America? What are the first things you are going to take care of? ESL classes? Driving lessons (in my country many women, especially mature ladies, do not drive, for instance)? Going to college? Looking for a job right away?

Once we get through the initial visit / unpacking / etc. process...

1) Apply for SSN (verifying that the stamp is available first)

2) Finalize wedding arrangements/commitments

3) Obtain driving permit (need SSN first in my state). Start driving lessons w/ AAA

4) Hopefully she will already have this by then, but if not then obtain her NCLEX certification (CVS should be done already) in my state.

5) Hustle, hustle, hustle to get going for the wedding

6) AOS (post-wedding)

7) Job search

Unfortunately, there's very, very few people with Filipino ancestry in my area, so we're still searching for something local. Otherwise, we'll probably work to get her connected with an online group.

Hi Amye,

I am guessing the first answer you got was a little tongue in cheek - as when you start to read some of those 110 pages you'll notice that this is what everyonne here is talking about - and consequently why there are 110 pages.  I don't think that reply was meant to be rude - just that it probably made a few peoople chuckle as those of us who have been here a while know that there are about 100 pages answering your question.

The short answer is that the VJ timeline is wrong and that CSC hasn't cleared October yet.  There are lots of sources of information on here - and if you are dropping by to read the thread every day (as you will want to) you'll be kept up to date with what is happening and how close csc is getting to your case x

Chelley

Some of the people will read a possible 110 pages before they ask a question.

Some will just ask a question.

Thank you very much for the information.  I will start reading and ry to follow this thread.

Can you tell me, out of interest, where does the Processing Times list get its information?  If it's so off, why does it exist?

I didn't meant to be rude at all. The very first post for JimJesDuma has signature that clearly shows that there are people in October that still are waiting for NOA1. And I know, I probably had to word my sentence a bit more polite.. that ignorance just drives me crazy.

I wouldn't be surprised anymore to have someone asked the same question when this thread get 200+ pages.

Amye, I understand your frustration. Please, don't take an offence. Waiting is tough, and it is starting to take its toll on people. We filed in the mid-October. Almost everyone in October thread got their NOA2 withing like a month after NOA1, and some of them are with their visas already, or even in the USA and married! I felt like a loner there, therefore I moved here in November thread. We got approved finally (look at my timeline), but guys here are doing an awesome job supporting each other and running the stats from USCIS regarding its processing November petitions. And overall are just cool guys, especially Jim :) So, stick here with us, it will give you a peace of mind.

Good luck to you!

It gets its info from the users here on VJ. It's only as accurate as the information that users provide.

That said, I disagree with the others. The timelines and stats here are not "wrong". VJ cannot tell you when your application will be processed as every case is unique. There are people from August who are still waiting for a NOA2. That's not a common occurrence, but it is possible. Likewise, there was somebody on VJ who got a NOA2 who file in December. The trend section of the processing timelines also lags behind real processing times. It only knows how long something takes when people start getting the NOA2 and then fill in their timeline info. If, liek we saw in mid-Dec through mid-January, very few applications were processed...then AFAIK VJ knows, nothing is "wrong". Now that processing is returning to "normal" speeds and people are getting their NOA2s, the trends have been showing an increasing processing time. It's not caught up yet, IMHO, but it's getting there.
