See, that some of us have right set of mind. Reality is that love have nothing to do with marriage. We are getting into bonding business relationship, with permission from state you are living in, with person that financial differences may just be to huge to ignore, in name of some filling that we have. It is really awful situation if business of marriage will default at some point. And what's fair will not necessary be the outcome of worst  case scenario.  I am really looking forward to spend rest of my life with my future wife.

If someone told me this like 20 years ago, I would be like ugh, how unromantic! Today, after a failed marriage, I couldn't have agreed more. This is an ugly (for someone) truth, succesful lasting marriage is an everyday hard work, not something that just "happens". Love matters in the very beginning to bring two individuals together.

Yesterday, my fiance sent me the article and we discussed it. Not that it discovers America, but sums things up nicely and pretty accurately. Definitely worth reading for those entering a marriage soon

This is a great article. It echoes all of the advice I have received from my much older married friends. Thanks for sharing.

I'm tracking that date too. I take screenshots and compare any new approval case numbers to old case numbers. Those two cases were once RFEs (ending in 859 and 948?). So I think they only approve old cases that they already sent RFEs out. I fear if the people who are approving cases are contractors. If so, then they'd leave the thicker packets sit and rott on the shelves seeing how the probably get paid per case instead of hourly. But that would also explain why they were working so fast before the slowdown.

I'm self employed, my packet was really thick with months of bank statements and 3 years of all my old tax papers from the IRS and other boring stuff proving I actually make money. I'm also a government contractor and get paid on production, not hourly. If I'm working as part of a group on a large project the easiest work will be completed first seeing how it will pay more. The tougher work (thicker packets) will sit until just before the deadline in hopes someone else will take it.

Maybe I'm all wrong and just being paranoid again.

Nowrya, I do know how you feel. It gets harder to wait every day. But I have to respectfully disagree with you. Having read everything I could find about how USCIS adjudicators work, my understanding is that it doesn't matter how many pages a petitioner sent in their application. They only review what is required. The instructions about fiance petition on the USCIS website are clear: three forms - I-129f, G325a, and one optional with contact informatio; the proves that petitioner is a US citizen; the proof of eligibility to marry (divorce decrees, death certificate, or noting); the evidence of personal meeting withing two years before a petition date; letters of intent to marry; description of how relationship started. They do not need any of your financial information, that will be looked at during consulate stage. Honestly, I didn't join the VJ until after we sent our petition. When I saw HOW MANY pages some people sent, I fricked out, paniced, almost cried. Our petition consisted of maybe 10 pages. We didn't send any chats screenshots, emails, financial documents, etc. Just copies of boarding passes and passport pages with entry stamps. What I think is delaying your petition is pending background checks. I noticed that young couples get their approvals very quickly (at least, it was fair for October filers). Perhaps, because their life experience is pretty clear and straight forward still.

Easier said than done, but stay strong. Your petition is not gathering the dust under someone's desk. It is in the system, so it is getting reviewed. They are running background checks and will be issuing your NOA2 soon. Keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

The statistics show that couples who make it through the process have statistically stronger marriages per happiness, compatibility, and success rates (number of years married) than do other kinds of marriages. We will all get there. We know that our relationships can whether the storm or we wouldn't have embarked on this long and expensive process with our mates as it requires strong communication, high confidence in the relationship from both people, and a hopefully strong support system for both people for the relationship.

I can break out the links for these statistics if you want.

Ybhamster, would you please provide that data? I am really interested to look at those stats. Thank you!

Initial scan completed...off to work (darn weekdays!), but I'm going to put this out there so you guys can run the data however you want. I'm still working on the daily-update pieces. These are ONLY K1 apps.

Note: There's a bug with a few cases that show a future date. This is because USCIS....for some reason...doesn't have a date updated field on those cases, so my script mistakenly pulled the date from the wrong part of the status. These are are very few and far between, but that's why there's a few cases with February dates in the data.

This covers K1s from 1790048000 to 1790108000.

Thank you so much for this!  It is particularly heartening to see that 35 cases were handled yesterday.  (5 of which appear to be for the 4th November and 3 for the 5th November!) the numbers are getting better - perhaps they'll really start to move now.  This makes me more hopeful than some of the recent posts.  And as I have said before - when they start processing as many as they are receiving then there's a chance the NOA2 dates will start to get closer instead of farther away.  This is a brilliant piece of work.  Thank you so much for sharing your expertise for the benefit of all of us here.

Chelley :)

This ?, if you don't mind of course. I'm just curious. I've read somewhere that divorce rate among international couples is significantly lower than average nationwide, but I don't remember where.

I will look for you when I arrive home. The study that I was referring to is from the US Census Bureau that stated out of 8000 couples that get married internationally per year, over 80% of them are still married after 10 years. Obviously there can be a variety of factors for this, but the statistic is stunning nonetheless.

I just received a phone call from my contact at USCIS who found out that there is a large number of family based cases from August through December that have appealed and have received expedite requests. This is supposedly one of the causes of the slow down at CSC. I hope this helps. I was told that they will try to get some kind of timeline for me.

Thanks for posting this JSWH! What a relief.

We didn't include long chat history and email conversations too, just the ticket itinerary, passport stamps and the I94.

If it is okay, may I ask what they requested for evidence in your case?

I think we lack something. There is always something. ?

In reality as we all know and statistic bear out, that it is a trying and expensive process which only about 54% of couple actually make it through with 34% actually getting married due to alien fiances usually getting cold feet about immigrating.

Hi Ybhamster who provided this stat? It sound WAY too low. Only 54% of I-129F's make through from petition to marriage in the US? I find that hard to believe.

Jim

It sounds believable to me based on the scans I've been running already. Just looking at the last few months of data, there are more petitions rejected than approved. The overwhelming majority of rejected petitions are for wrong fees, papers not signed, etc. Even if you only include approved petitions, a lot of wouldn't result in visas due all kinds of reasons. Just a small list is below:

  • Not meeting the requirements (medical, financial, paperwork, etc.)
  • Cold feet / breakup / retraction of petition
  • Denied at consulate / expired when returned to USCIS
  • People not waiting and getting married anyway (i.e. applying for a I-130 instead)

I'm not saying the stat is right...just that it's believable. :) From what I've seen on VJ, a lot of people see the long road ahead and apply before they really know their partner. No judgements...just saying what I've observed from other people's experiences they've shared.

Ok I see your point. There are more RFE's than approvals lately that is for sure but rejections are still quite low.
