Hello all,

My wife recently sent the DS-230 part I to the NVC. I talked to them today and they said they sent her the DS-230 Part II (why don't they just send those together???) and are requesting the following documents:

Passport copy

Police Report original

Birth Certificate original

The problem is that in Ukraine it's almost impossible to get another Birth Certificate, and my wife doesn't want to risk sending this to America. Plus, from the other forms we've read, it seems that the Birth Certificate is needed at the interview.

I was wondering if anyone else has done this process in Ukraine or at least know what to do.

Also, they didn't ask me for the Marriage Certificate (which I had included back in the earlier packages) but I've noticed that it was on the list of forms other people had to send in..

Thank You for the Help!

~John

They send out part 2 separate as part of packet 4 to prevent the benificiary from returning part 2 to the consulate with part 1.

Part 2 needs to be brought to the interview and signed in front of the consular officer.

Send only photo copies to USCIS, Consulate, NVC. Bring the Originals to the interview

Huh????? Sorry Dan but where do you get some of your info from.

So the NVC has now sent you part II after originally only sending you part I which you returned? Is it NVC that is now requesting you send part II with accompany documents to them?

Birth certificates etc that are sent to NVC must be in the original as per the instructions, not photocopies as YuAndDan stated.

Interesting because as far as I knew the Ukraine was only required to submit part I to NVC with the interview packet (packet 4) coming from the consulate that contained the DS-230 Part II along with a list of documents required to obtain for the interview. Perhaps they have now brought the Ukraine in line with other countries that the NVC requires both parts I & II to be sent to them. This is the aim eventually, to have all applications for the Immigrant Visa totally done at NVC before being sent to the consulate/embassy.

Hopefully someone from the Ukraine that is also doing an Immigrant Visa will be able to confirm.

You must turn in the DS-230 at NVC Part 1 is sighned and Part II is included but not signed. You only sign this at the interview.

When you turn in this DS-230 (at NVC) you only include a copy of the passport picture with Name, and details along with the barcode sheet. (That is it!)

At the interview you will need the Police Report and Original Birth Certificate (Packet 3 is a checklist which will tell you what is needed) You must inform you have this checklist completed before the interview is scheduled. Packet 4 is then given which tells you the time and what to bring to the interview.

If you need any more help feel free to e-mail me.
