Hello everyone,

What a great forum you guys have here!

My husband and I had our first AOS interview at our local office yesterday.

The officer was very nice and friendly and the whole thing didnt take longer than 15 minutes.

But when we where ready to leave she said that she would review our file again and then let us know their decision in the next couple of weeks.

Now...it is "normal" that you dont find out right at the interview if you are approved or not?

Is there ANYWAY of finding out if we are approved or not?

How long should I wait to hear from them before I should start to worry?

She removed my 1-94 slit from my passport and voided my visa.

Is that a good sign?

Please, give me your thoughts on this matter.

Thank you!

LOVE has no borders!

If I were you I would not worry just yet. She didn't say you were denied, so that's a good thing. As long as there are no issues with your case or name, you should be fine. Good luck, I hope you hear some good news soon! :)

As to your question about a review being normal, I've seen similar posts here. Sometimes the Interviewing Officer is new and need a supervisor to sign off on their interview results before an approval can be given. It's all part of the waiting game, unfortunately. Hopefully you will get your approval sooner rather than later.

From my understanding, if they void your visa and remove your I-94, that means an approval is imminent. I wouldn't worry too much.

I was gonna say the samething Tracy said.... having your visa voided and your I-94 taken away would make me believe that it is a good sign.

I remember one more thing the officer said:she told us that we would have to refile for a permanent Green Card after 2 years.

She explaind that whole process to us...now THAT must be a good sign, right?

(Sorry for rambling  ...I am just so sick and tired about worrying....I DO tend to worry too much....at least I know here at VJ that I am not alone!

We also had our AOS interview at the Milwaukee office. We didn't find out if we were approved at the interview either, the AO told us he would contact us by mail with his decision. They also took my husbands I-94, which we didnt realize until after we had left. Our interview was Nov 8, 2006 and got approval email for AOS on Dec 19, 2006. Good luck to you!!!

Perhaps it is just a Milwaukee office policy?

ok, you forgot to mention the small "detail" that the officer explained about removing conditions... obviously if he explained that, you are approved.

We also had to wait to hear if I was approved. I was told that half of my file was missing, so the adjudicator couldn't give me a firm answer. He took out the original I-94 (the one from when I activated my K-1 visa, it had never been taken out) and left in the most recent I-94. I had to wait for an approval letter before I knew for sure, which came a couple of days after my interview (apparently the missing section of my file was somewhere else in the building and not still at TSC).

not necessarily. My adjudicator took great pains to remind me that even though he explained the next parts of the process, it did not indicate that I was approved.
