We finally made it to the US 6 months ago. She has the big 1-year visa in her passport. The green card has not come, and USCIS "My case status" page says: "On March 31, 2015, we sent your case, Receipt Number X, to the Department of State for visa processing" - looks like they haven't updated my case status for over a year and a half?!

- Is this very long for a green card?

- We want to visit my wife's family. Are we safe to do so with that visa she has?

Thank you

Note: the phone system says USCIS has passed the case to State for approval, 18 months ago. But we've been in the US 6 months which implies State approval is finished, I think. I think they've lost us...

I ended up calling about ours because it was taking an unusually long time, so I wouldn't hesitate to do that. It ended up coming shortly after the call. With us the hold up was from the POE. They were spending extra time going over the entries as we POEed in Boston the day after the bombings there.

Youre looking up the wrong case number. You should have an IOE reciept number to look up green card production.

Interesting - I'm curious to know how you inferred this? The number I've been referencing is a LIN receipt number.

Thanks

Have you moved since paying the fee? Sometimes the GC is not delivered and sent back. Make an Infopass appointment to speak to USCIS.

Update - I had to get escalated to "level 2" in the USCIS help system. I gave the guy a number from the visa sticker they put in her passport. He looked it up and let me know the green card should ship next week. So, it looks like this sort of delay (6 months) can be normal now. Thank you.

because when i paid elis they gave me an ioe case number. On my original green card it had it on there. Now on my 10 year card i have my wac number. The lin number was just for the i-130 not the green card which is why you're seeing no movement. Edited by NikLR
