I would never tell anyone not to hire a lawyer without knowing the totality of their background and circumstances.

That being said, this is a DIY-oriented site and most people here handle it themselves. There are situations though where hiring a lawyer, or at the very least consulting with one, is highly encouraged. This might be because you're not the sort of person who feels comfortable completing a lot of official forms, or perhaps your case is not straightforward and you need a lawyer to untangle your situation.

Day 341 (12/10/18) Interview was scheduled for 1/14/19

Day 376 (1/14/19) Interview

Day 385 (1/23/19) Denied

Day 400 (2/7/19) Denial revoked; N-400 approved; oath ceremony set for 2/14/19

Day 407 (2/14/19) Oath ceremony in Dallas, TX

My husband filed for me (I'm Italian and we have been married for a little over a year), entering the country next week with my CR-1 visa. We did not need a lawyer at any step of the way :-)

my wife is from the philippines and we filed the CR1 3 yrs ago and i hired a lawyer because i had no idea about

the imigration process. If I had known then what i know now i would not have hired a lawyer because u still do all

the work gathering the info all they do is fill out the paper work with the info u gave them.
